Whatever happened to just skiing?

seriously why do we have to care if what we are doing is progressive or repeated? as long as they have two planks on their, feet a good attitude and are stoked on what they are doing, they have the right idea right? so why are we hating? its just skiing. lets forget all this no poles/ poles shit and ride. Idea was sick and progressive, but if yu start doing everything just like Pep Andy and Eric, doesnt that make you a trend whore?

this is gonna sound cliche but seriously you can sum up my whole statement in a sentence:

as long as its skiing and it looks good and the person doing it is having fun, then respect it. simple as that.

I respect everybody that straps up a pair of boots and clicks in to a pair of skis (besides snowbladers), but it doesn't mean that we can't critique them. Critique does not necessarily mean hate some of the time. Critique means if you like it or not. And if I like or do not like something, I will say that opinion.

i mostly agree, but looking good is extremely vague, i would say it's more just about havin a good time

i repeated that as long as theyre having fun its all good, multiple times broheem.

Exactly. Whether its no poles, poles, short skis, long skis, tight pants, baggy pants, helmet, no helmet, its all good. I personally think that the most important thing of all its having fun, and if you need to have 3XL pants to do so, its great, If you want tight pants to have fun, super! We care too much about how we look and the trends we follow, and forget that we all ski, and we're all different. Just have fun!

Today, I had one of the sickest days I've had in a long time. Snowing for the whole weekend, and me and a group of friends went up. We seshed the park for awhile which was really fun because we were all progressing and doing new things. The only thing that ruined it was some asshole snowboarder who ran 3 of us over while out of control. I flipped out at him...he left. Simple as that. Anyways, after we go onto the cat road and find some awesome pillow lines, drops and a few other fun little things. It was all good fun. We are all different levels and we all still have fun. I dunno what this has to do with the thread actually but anyways...

totally agree wit all of thise and specifficaly i tele so its differnt personally i would shreed long steep backcoutry lines before the park would even step into my mind. but i agree with all of the it doesnt matter what you look like, what skis u have , or how u ski as long as u enjoy what u do and ski to the best of ur ability its skiin and its fun

ya no offense but there are a ton of threads on this... but everyone does just ski, its just on NS there is a lot of smack talk.

I think everyone can easily agree that skiing is fun, but if we didn't discuss progression, equipment, and style, this site would be nonexistent.

i felt like that a couple years ago but now i feel like people are really more into having fun at my moutain and its really more enjoyable then the past years.

i agree with it all. i think just as long as you are happy with what you are up to then it's chill. it's all in good fun. it's all about respect.

the problem's that people are smack taking for now reason but to make them feel good about their own selfish @$$s. we need to all work in a sorta constructive competition to advance skiing in creative ways. that's why we have sites like NS. in all "extreme sports", especially ones such as rock climbing and skiing, were all way too mixed up in defining and judging things instead of just respecting (you don't have to like it) the dude for skiing the hill how he like.s
