Resume the current government but make myself a figurehead ruler whose only job is to be rich and famous like the British Monarchy. Running a country is a lot of work. Fuck that, make other people do it.

You're not saving anything. This is a huge misconception - in reality it actually costs a great deal (even up to 10 times) more in the US to execute a person than to imprison them for life. Death penalties usually carry mandatory appeals (which can be taken by a convict numerous times if they are on death row for long enough, too), therefore there are going to be immense legal expenses associated with an inmates case before their punishment is carried out.

Decrease the size of our government significantly and create a truly transparent government. Government employees would not be allowed to accept money from any outside sources. One of the biggest problems with any government is when people get rich while working for the government. The tax payer is the boss of anyone and everyone who works in government. If someone else is paying government employees tons of money, they no longer work for the tax payer.
Lower the corporate tax rate 15%, so U.S. companies will stop moving their headquarters to other countries and paying tax to that country instead of the U.S. This would make it easier for companies to actually manufacture products in the U.S. and to export those products to other countries.
Lower individual taxes across the board, and give big tax breaks for people and companies who donate to charities.
No more agencies wielding government power to fuck with people because of their religious and/or political beliefs. If you want to worship spores, molds and fungi; that is your right.
If government employees do stupid illegal or unethical shit; they would be fired instead of just being moved to another department.
I would not try to take rights away from people. I would secure our borders in a big way. Then I would initiate guest worker programs. If people participated in the guest worker program for 3 years, had a good work history and didn't commit any crimes, they would be eligible for citizenship.
Rather than forcing green initiatives down people's throats, I would give tax breaks and subsidies to companies that were successfully working on green energy sources, using recycled materials, helping to clean up waste. Ex: If a company wanted to go to the huge mass of floating garbage that is supposed to be floating in the ocean and collect it and recycle the material, they would receive government subsidies and tax breaks. They would have to show results. No more Solyndras; throwing taxpayer money at companies that are making sub standard products but are owned by political supporters.
The goal is to make products and services that are better for the environment less expensive for the consumers rather than forcing them to buy more expensive stuff.
Until we have come up with alternatives to fossil fuels that are affordable, reliable and practical for most consumers, I would do obvious things to decrease the cost of gas.

MY country.... I'd follow in Portugal's footsteps and legalize possession in small quantities for all drugs, disband the DEA, put that $9 billion a year towards the ONDCP and drug prevention education and rehabilitation programs, and create a country with the least amount of drug addicts anywhere and greatly reduce the violent crime and STD rates in low-income areas and country wide as a result. Also I'd legalize psychedelics to the point where one could get a license to open a private laboratory to synthesize and study pyschs like LSD, Mescaline, DMT, 4-ACO-DMT, etc... in doing that reduce the stigma and taboo surrounding drug use so we would have scientists truly studying the effects of these drugs and disseminating true and reliable information about these drugs in order to better inform the public about the possible dangers of drug use .
