What wast width do you all prefer for summer skiing?

Asking for a friend....you know... who lives near beartooth. I've heard anywhere from "go narrow" to "go faaaaat". 108s... 96 116?

Thanks!

I use 107 underfoot. I like those. 98 felt too narrow. Some of the guys I knew complained that 120 felt too fat, but I don’t know if everyone feels that way.

Sounds like I should strip the winter wax off the K108s and leave the 96s at home.

carving a fat ski in massive laid over turns is 200% cooler than making short racer turns on 74 underfoot skis.

96 underfoot. A happy medium

I'm so conflicted now. I'm back to my baby legs after 3 months of sitting on my ass. Dem' 108s are hvy.

LOVE my K108s in the slush.

Second this. 104-110 seems like an ideal width in my opinion, and that ski in particular is crazy fun in slush

good ole wast

Fuck me, I wrote that buzzed as hell in the middle of yolo planning a trip at the bar.

Followup question, pile on the hate: If my newer K96s have a lot more texture than my older 108s, does that mean it's time for a grind/texture?

For May and summer slush skiing I don't care what width I'm on. Sometimes I'm on my 85s, sometimes my 117s. But in general my response would be if I'm hiking a long ways to a glacier then 85 cause they're lighter to carry, if I'm doing lift accessed or a short hike then my 117s because wide skis are fun.

If you can bring a quiver then bring a quiver. If you are parked close to snow or taking lunch at the car anyways then why not. Early morning after a freeze is way different that late late in the afternoon when everyone else has quit but you are still lapping hard. I had some amazing runs on my 118 underfoot YLEs in summer slush including one of the funnest days in my memory which was labor day a few years back. Currently I am liking my menace 98s. Big fat rockered tip but still some camber and not too huge when you are just ripping firm hardpack.

Honestly it all depends on what type of summer skiing I’m doing. Some days I’m on my 94mm edgeless and other days I’m ripping my 122s it’s just personal preference. IMO you never can go wrong with a wider ski lol. Honestly if you’re skiing in the summer tho it’s gonna be fun no matter what!

I like it thicc but only if it's stiff. Would take a 100mm stiff ski over a 120mm noodle for slush, but wide and stiff is the bee's knees

yeah, use whatever you prefer but i feel like i carry my skis more often in non-winter situations so i notice the weight more

are we not doing "phrasing" any more?

I have no problems admitting I'm a size queen

The only thing thiccer than that is the gap in your quiver

Took the Kartel 108s and had a great time.

Some of y'all can throw backies into a bowl and then rip moguls a second later. Shit was nuts.

Montana local's are awesome. Bozemen chick w/ ON3Ps saw my skis at a rest stop and took me for a lap on the Rock Creek Headwall. First time doing a back-country run :)

See y'all next year.
