What Was The Best Day of Your Life

For me all of my top 3 best days share the same 2 things.

-Riksgränsen

-Skiing

Every year best weeks of the year and of my life are the ones spent in northern Sweden.

riks is such a bucket list for me. want to get out there in the spring one year

also to actually respond to this thread. I kinda think about it the same way I think about working out/being in shape. Im always feeling like im in the best shape of my life because I just keep working out and being consistent and getting stronger. I like to think thats how life is too

Mt Hood summer solstice 2022. Skied FTC park all day, hiked up to illumination for the party. I had an epic jump session and really pushed myself on the sketchy builds and got some epic shots from a few photographers and a couple clips. And to cap it all off, I met my girlfriend of two years up at Illumination rock. I saw her send a backie and the rest is history

For me, this has always been improving. Like said above, the best is still to come. Take care of yourself through eating somewhat decent, exercise and keep living these days to the fullest.

Some epic days for me. Any time I am skiing and riding motorcycles, meeting the 1992 Chicago Bulls, when I married my wife and the birth of my kid. Looking forward to more epic days ahead!

hard to pinpoint a particular day but one that immediately comes to mind is last summer in nz, drove over to rotorura was gonna pedal but decided to hit gondi laps at skyline instead. hit a couple laps then downed a monster and cranked some old nostalgic moto movie music and just raged. probably the loosest and best i have ridden a bike ever lol. then more energy drinks and burger fuel (best fast ish food place on earth) and listened to exquisite honky tonks all the way home and was the best type of tired

1094162.jpeg

also had a fun step up session

all of the best days i can think of are tied to music just hitting right. another one was walking around the rocks in sydney at night with my camera, a box of krispy kreme donuts, and listening to some old 60s country and love songs.

My first time at Whitewater when I just moved across the country. On November 15th 2012, I was surrounded by over 140cm of snow on my first day out. It was the deepest day of my life and it was only day 1.

The best is always yet to come.

But one of the best days I ever had was January 29th, 2021. Snowbird got over 30"-40" in the span of like 24 hours with another 10"-12" on tap for the day. Spent it with my two best friends skiing some of the deepest snow we've ever seen in our lives. I'll never ever forget those Cirque laps. It was pure madness. You could barely breathe from all the pow coming down the throat.

I’ve hit a lot of milestones so it’s harder pointing out a single day, easier to say best year. So if I had to say, I’d say one of the days at my friends bachelor party where we just ingested a ton of drugs and beers and floated In the Lake of the ozarks

Might not be the best but probably the most significant/memorable. July 16th 2020.

My grandma (dad's mom) passed away the week prior.

Peak COVID, shit was fucked. Came home from an internship in Detroit to handle family matters.

Not going to get into it but I directly blame Michigan government handling retirement homes for her death.

My grandparents had a house on a beautiful lake in Northern Michigan that I spent all my summers and other holidays at.

Sitting out on that dock looking at the night sky had always been one of my favorite things.

Comet NEOWISE was at its peak and my Dad and I laid down on the dock and took in the night sky like we had done hundreds of times before.

Is it weird I can't think of one?

Not saying i've had a bad life, I've had plenty of great days (along with plenty of shit ones).

I've been thinking for a while now, but I can't single a day out that I'll never forget, at this moment. Hopefully there's one to come??

The best is still yet to come, but some notable ones:

Pow day at the bird where I caught every terrain opening with my friends

Spring day at the bird where I skied hard as hell

The day where someone I was really into said they were really into me before I had a chance to tell them

Days spending time with my family that I really care a lot about

There are all kinds of amazing days, and there will be many more amazing days.

Why is it far easier for me to think of the worst days of my life than the best lmao. Like thinking of best, it's really hard to pick days that stand out above many other good days I've had. But for worst, immediately 5-6 things pop to the top of my head. Funny how that works

One of my best days was skiing Loveland pass under the moon. No headlamp just moonlight to guide the way. It was also my homies 20th birthday so we rolled 20 joints for him and there was a bonfire party at the bottom

Negativity bias

Skiing on my 21st birthday at mount hood last spring. It was something I only could’ve dreamed of doing since my bday is pretty much in the summer, was on my bucket list since I learned to ski as a little kid.

It was the last day of spring pass too, and a perfect way to close out the best month of my life; my friends and I did it proper and drove across the country from PA, my first time driving across the country and being on a trip of that magnitude.

Had the absolute best day skiing with my friends as well as new ones I’ve made from that trip, and even ended up going home later that night with an absolute dime of a girl I met that day. Which if you know me personally… that shit is absolutely unheard of.

Sounds so cringey but that day changed my life permanently and helped me eliminate some serious mental issues that I’ve battled for years. Learned that I could actually get a girl alongside me realizing that I could feel true and undeniable euphoria.

again, so cliche and cringey, but that made me feel truly alive and I’ll spend every day for the rest of my life either indirectly or directly chasing down that feeling again.

2 days come to mind. I am sure there are some more. But these two recently.

May 2023.

Spring pass at Mt. Hood. I had skiing all day with friends, some new some old. I was staying in an Airbnb with mostly strangers who were becoming close friends. There was one day in which we all decided to hike from the top of Palmer glacier up to Illumination rock, as many do on their Mt. Hood spring excursions. This particular spring the snow had melted relatively low on the rock, so we were able to be way out on the ridgeline. Many of my new friends had built a jump and were filming.

Me not being too able on jump tricks, I decided to stay by myself on the ridgeline just below the rock. Seconds turned into minutes, minutes turned into hours. I found myself staring over the edge of the volcano into the beautiful horizon for quite literally 2 or 3 hours. All i could do was take in this magical place's beauty. Recently, I had been going through some personal things, including a semi-messy breakup. I remember thinking, "You know what, it's all going to be okay, Sage, you'll find something out there that is even better. There are amazing beautiful places out in the world like this. Must be some beautiful people too."

July 5, 2023.

I flew to Hawaii a few days prior to this to visit a friend and be a guest to her aunt's wedding on the North Shore of Oahu. My trip was only supposed to be four days, but on day three of my journey, things with my friend turned romantic and I managed to extend my trip (not just once, but twice!).

It was her birthday. We had breakfast at a small deli near her house before walking over to her grandparents' home where I sat there as she carved linoleum sheets for print making. Her grandma told us we could borrow her car, so we loaded up our things to go camping up near the North Shore where we had been earlier for the wedding. With a quick pitstop at the grocery store we got snacks and drinks, as well as spam musubi at the 7/11 (a must try if you find yourself in a Hawaiian 7/11).

We arrived at the camp ground in the evening. The spot we had reserved was near many other families, so we decided to take a shot at setting up our tent in the "backpacking" spots further down. After the tent was setup, we grabbed our surfboards off of the roof of her grandma's car and ran into the ocean. I am terrible at surfing and the sun was just setting. A Hawaii native herself, she laughed and made fun of me for the next hour. I maybe caught one wave but that was all I needed.

I quickly became worn out and let the ocean carry me into shore. My friend walked over to me. We sat there on the beach staring into the waves and the sky. She told me she loved me.

Walking back to our camp, it appeared a group of 30 or so children all apart of some outdoor club had reserved the spot we setup our tent in. Too lazy to take apart the tent I hoisted the completed enclosure over my head and let my friend guide the way to our original spot with the car. That night a stray kitten waddled over to our tent, the cot we brought was only big enough for one of us, so I slept on the ground with the kitten.

In the morning, it all seemed like a dream.

Two beautiful days.

That illumination day was so phenomenal. Probably the most magical experience I’ve ever had, especially the run all the way down to govy amongst the sunset. Felt so cool being on those trails with a darkish sky above and a sick orange glow to the west. So glad we all got to share that experience together.

this was one of the first things that came to mind for me as well and I totally felt like a degenerate for it lol

I felt like a degen typing it out ngl but it was memorable lol

Week long pow sesh w the boys. Or maybe spending a day at the hot springs w my girl and getting road head the whole way back

May 1st 2024- (Backstory, I have had a pretty rough past 2 years of my life and kind of banked everything on going to Hood this spring. Bonus- I had never been to a real mountain before or met very many people who were stoked on skiing)

I had pulled up on April 27th and it was pissing rain the whole time. I was still having more fun than I have ever had before in my life chilling with my new homies, but the rain was definitely taking away from that. I woke up on May 1st and to my surprise there was no rain and minimal clouds. We all went up to Timberline and there was like 9” of fresh snow. ( After my hometowns 3” 23/24 total this was crazy ) Spent the whole day ripping trees and then cutting into the park after the jumps. After norms closed we all went back to the site and chilled for the rest of the day, finally I got to see how magical that forest is in the sunlight

Everyday that May my idea of what real fun is was shattered again and again but nothing will top the feeling of saving up money months and driving 3 days had all payed off. I had finally felt like I belonged with the people I was around.

Shoutout to all the homies that made that trip special

Niseko late march, right after tourist season, something like 20 inches of snow overnight, had four straight days of amazing solid powder.
