SO long story short my left arm got immersed in a bunch of spray can foam insulation and i cant get it off. Soapy water wont do anything, paint thinner wont phase it, I cant shave it off I just tear my skin and bleed. I can peel it off and it strips all my arm hair and leaves a smooth rash. Anyone got any ideas or suggestions??

Pictures? Maybe we could seriously help you. And I say maybe with HIGH HIGH hopes in mind. Mostly I just want to see it.

yea pics might actually help, if you really have a lot on there fire could work, but to properly diagnose the situation pics would be nice

I figured that probably wouldnt work since the lacquer thinner didnt do anything... Now that Im bleeding Im not sure if I really want to put gas on it

Get some of the dawn soap that they have in commercials saving ducks and shit. Stick your arm in it for half an hour or so and then let it slide off.

your kidding right? fire would just end up in burning/melting foam on his arm which would fucking KILL. use your brain.

gasoline might help eat at it. look on the can and see whats written on it. there might be a "incase of exposure" note.

Looks like post #1 was right

I will just go ahead and leave this here......

OK Im getting the idea that you guys think I have like a club of insulation on my arm. Ha that would be pretty damn funny but its like a 10" area from my wrist up. I got the majority of it off right away when it happened. Now Im just trying to get the residue off which is about 1/8" thick and completely matting down my arm hairs and kind of tight around the skin on my arm. My camera is dead but Im working on getting some cell phone pics.

The cell phone does it no justice but here it is

If you dont think its that bad, I fell in fresh hot tar a few summers ago and this is WAY worse.

if your not really needed to be too groomed for work or something, just wear long sleeves for a while until it comes off. thats what i did when i rhino-lined my jeep. got all over and it just kinda deteriorated and fell off.

Nah man i usually wear long sleeves to work anyway but I really want to get this shit off haha. I know its probably not that bad but this girl I know who is a nurse was telling me how bad it was to leave it there... who knows.

Wow thats gnarly man, not really sure what i would do with that. With those open wounds i wouldnt try much other soak it in dishsoap maybe?? i dunno man, shit.

From life experience, it is best to remove foam, super glue, oil, etc, with a dry cloth. Water just makes the substance glop together and form a big mess, whereas a dry towel actually seems to attract the goo and allows you to rub it off your skin. Super glue, foam and adhesives generally cure faster when water is introduced to the picture, I am not sure why.

Nah dude, I was told by a paramedic that it wasnt a big deal and that other person posted that paragraph from a foam manufacturer saying that its not harmful.. Im going skiing until Sunday Im not worried anymore.

Thanks for all the advice you people posted in this thread.

if you know what type/brand of foam insulation you can google the name of it plus MSDS and you should find an information sheet that will tell you how to treat it

this is a rare case where i would like to hear the full story. (not sure if it was explained above as i just scrolled to see pics)
