ive had the ipod mini for a while now, but i was thinking if i should get a new one for the season cuz its getting all screwed up. so of all the mp3s, which do you recommend? and the mini i had a little leather case that i kept it in when skiing, so it doesnt break as easily, and i was thinking on the ipod classic but seems like it could break.

Snatch up a iPod Video but if your looking for something you don't wanna really have to look after than get a used iPod nano or a shuffle.

i have a microsoft zune. i like it way more then my ipod mini. battery last longer and it feels stronger.

i got a little 60 doller 2 gig sandisk

it has a screen and shit so its not always on shuffle, and it comes with an fm radio incase you dont feel like listening to your music

i would reccommend it because you dont have to take care of it too much, and you could just make a ducktape case to protect it haha

iv got a philips 2 gig and i love it never had any problems it even has a radio and voice recorder i paid 100 for it plus it came with a nice case

I have a 100 gig Archos AV 500. This is a great mp3 but it is like carrying a brick in your pocket. The cool thing though is that it is a portable DVR and you can record straight from a television. Also, Archos has a new mp3 out that can hold 180 gigs of music and videos i don't know what it is called though. The AV 500 also comes in a 30 gig version which is about half the width of mine and much lighter. It still has the 4 inch LCD screen to watch movies which is fuckin sick. I think that Archos makes the best shit on the market. I've had way too muck trouble with ipods because once the battery dies in about a year, you need to pay a lot of money to get a new one. The Archos actually has a removable battery pack so if your battery does eventually die, you can buy a new one online for like $15. The 30 gig Archos costs something like 250 and it has so many more features than an ipod. Check it out.

i sent in my 30 gig the other day to get replaced, i think im gonna get the 80 gig with the giftcard iget back. says upto 40 hour battery life so that beats teh old 12 hour

i assume you have a PC so i'd say rock a zune or one of those smaller players (2-10gigs) since those should be relatively inexpensive and will hold enough music for riding

i have a ipod nano in one of those clear plastic cases and the thing has lasted me two seasons with no problems. ive fallen on it, dropped it, basically anything you probably shouldnt do and its help up well.

zune!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

sick as fuck i love mine way better than the pod man

they just came out with the new slim ones too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

i have the new nano, fucking awsome. but, if this is just for skiing, i would go with a new shuffle. battery life is 12 hours, 240 songs, it doesnt HAVE to be on shuffle, its soo small, hard to break, very durable, and yeah, thats what im using when im skiing

If you want something durable, try the old iPod shuffle. I managed to wash and dry mine TWICE and it still ran fine. Those things are amazing. Too bad I lost it finally.

I have a first gen nano right now, and its great. You can get a 4 gig for pretty cheap, and I've been rocking it without a case cause I dont care about scratches, and its perfect for what I need. I even nailed a tree branch chest first last year, right on the nano... its a little bent, but still works fine.

ipods dont break. i dont care what people say. iv dropped mine on concrete floors, in the snow w.e. and its fine still. ive had it for three years now or something and its fine. I would get a shuffle though cause its hella small.

2 gig nano perfect for riding. small and always good songs on shuffle, holds about 500, and has a screen

ipod video good for everything else, imo too expensive to ride with but...

i saw an ad for a freestyle mp3 player that was water proof and really tough but i think it was only like 512 mb.

just get an ipod with a warranty. so worth it. for the mountain get a shuffle for $79, never freeze on you.

i have an Ipod video and love it, I don't ski with it though. I ski with a cheap-o wal mart mp3 player. Works just fine and not a big deal if I crash and break it.

The new 8 gig nano is great. I only got is because my mom put mine through the wash and I had a warrenty

i usually rock my ipod video when im skiin pow or trees or haha groomers

i rock this bad boy when im hittin park so if i happen to land backseat or bail on a rail and it breaks im not down 250, im only down 50

i've got a rip off ipod shuffle my buddy got me one when he was in china for 20 bucks it works great... i'd go with a shuffle

i disagree. i think they touch wheel thing is harder to use not

saying its hard but the ipod one seems to flow faster/easier

and who really cares what cnet thinks it boils down to personal

preference

I had a 30gb video, kept it in a metal case and it was idestructable. I used it a ton for a year and then the wires fried. Sent it in and got a full refund though.
