What to get after Sony 16-50mm kit lens?

Typical "what to get next" lens thread, tried to look fro previous threads but couldnt find one for E mount lenses.

Anyway, ive got the kit lens, but am trying to decide what to get next. I found a guy near me selling the sony 55-210mm for only $150, but I also found the Sony 18-105mm on Andorama for $400. Ive seen good things about both but am torn on price, and whether or not I will really need 210mm of range since most of my shooting/filming is up close in tow parks and landscape photography. If anyone else has used either of these and has any feedback i'd love to hear it, as well as any other suggestions of lenses.

55-210mm no doubt. You'll be surprised how awesome the extra range is, trust me you'll use it. I broke my 80-300mm this spring and I've really been missing the long shots you can get with it.

I would say get the 18-105 because the 55-210 is not sharp at all. Have been much more satisfied with my shots w/ the 18-105 then the 55-210.

I would take a look at some of the sony primes, they have gotten better. Also if you're prepared to drop some cash the zeiss 55mm 1.8 is dope af.

personally never liked the 55-210 but it kinda depends on how you shoot.

I used the sony 18-200 quite often with fs100 and fs700 (both versions, non servo and servo) and its a great overall lens, looks pretty good up to about 190mm and the non-servo version has a pretty smooth zoom ring too.

The focusing is digital though, which bothered me slightly, but wasnt a deal breaker. The lens is probably 500-600 for non servo so might be too expensive for you.

Yeah I would love to get that 55mm, Im not doing much more than taking pictures/videos on day trips and filming on the hill, so I probably don't warrant throwing down that much $$ yet, but definitely in the future. Recently was looking at the Rokinon 14mm f/2.8 and sounded like its pretty sharp and for only about $250, might be decent for some astrophotography as well. I'll probably just keep browsing around deals that come up in the meantime and hold off until my next paycheck or two...

absolutely the worst lens I've ever used, and unfortunately bought. I havn't even tried to sell it yet cuz I don't want anyone to experience it. It's garbage and your money is way better spent on a tokina 11-16mm for crop or a 16-35mm (I prefer my Canon 16-35mm f2.8 ii over sony's for my sony cameras) for full frame

18-105 is unreal for the price

toss some filters/nd on there and you have a very versatile lens

love mine
