What to do about college

i just got a partial scholarship to Westminster in Utah, and i really want to go there, but i realize that when i get out, i will have approximately $80,000 in loans when i get out, so i guess im just wondering, is it worth it?

If you know that's the school for you, go for it man. No amount of money is worth depriving yourself of the best possible college experience. You'll figure it out when you need to, go out there and have a fucking awesome time.

but even if i love it when i visit, i don't know how i am gonna pay back $80,000 in 10 years, especially just out of college, i would have to get an amazing job or live at home

Is it a university or college(4 year or 2 year)? If it's 2 year, plus snow college in utah will give you fucking full tuition if you get 25 on the act, that is so fucking rediculous, like who doesn't get at least 25.

remember that you aren't the only person who has had to pay back loans and many, many people have done it. Stop thinking that far into the future and do what you feel is right for you at this moment in your life.

as a ski bum i may have a bias opinion.

post secondary school is OPTIONAL in life. You do not NEED to go to post secondary in order to live a succesful life. If you are questioning going to school because of the loans you will have to pay off in 4+ years then are you really sure you'll be ready for a "career" when it's time to pay off that loan?

I mean, think about it. Why do you go to school? If you don't think you want to jump right into a "career" right after post secondary then maybe you shouldn't rush into the whole school thing right away. I know a few people who have gone to school, and are now working in a completely unrelated field. Some of them are jelous of me and say they with they hadn't of gone to school right away.

Think about what you want, not what "THEY" tell you what you "should" do. If you like skiing a lot, then think about taking a few years off and moving to the mountains to ski. There are plenty of jobs out there with high pay which will allow you to take winters off and just ski. Who knows, you might even find a job that you love and get paid well for. I personally make between $25 and $40/hour and according to a lot of people in the real world (including my sister - who makes less then me) I am not and never will be conciderd successful until I go to school.

Basicly what I'm saying is: Don't listen to anyone (including me) about what you should do with your life. you are the only one living it, make up your mind for yourself. And yea, I know - highschool is a pretty hard place to use your brain and actually think about stuff other then when lunch time is and who's having the party on the weekend, but just try it out, see if you like it.

ya dont think so far ahead. i went to a school in michigan for two years, realized the college wasnt going to get me where i wanted. now im in the middle of transfering to Colorado. Im in denver right now after visiting and touring. the program im trying to get into will take me another 2 and a half years if all goes really well. out of state tuition is hella exspensive. but with scholarships, financial aide, working, and everything ill still be pretty broke after im out of college. but its what i really want to do, and where i want to be. my parents will support it and help me i hope with what they can. dont worry so much, kids from the inner city who have no money and family can still go thru four years of great colleges fine.
