It's not really his choice, more so his parents. It seems as though half of ns is completely against receiving a gift, thinking that they are saints or something for not being spoiled and having to call out anybody who is spoiled at any given opportunity.
No it's not that, it's that he's clearly so well off that he hasn't a real NEED for any one thing, and has resorted to asking a website what he should WANT. It's like, does this kid even have any hobbies or interests? If he did, he wouldn't have to ask, so I make the proper assumption that he's a spoiled, mindless, has-it-all.
