What time does LCC usually close for avalanche control?

Sorry if this has been discussed before. This will be my first winter in SLC and I know Little Cottonwood Canyon closes often in the mornings for avalanches and avalanche control. I am trying to figure out what is a good time to head up. Is it possible to get up before they close the canyon in the mornings, or should I just try to be there early enough to be near the front of the lineup? Thanks for the help.

It depends, but they'll usually post it the night before. I never had any problem beating the gates up the canyon road last winter. Just remember on those days to leave earlier than you think you need to, because thousands of your closest friends will have the same thought process.
