I think it has to do with if you ever changed your password... also it only counts like 8 characters or maybe less so you can just keep on typing what ever you want and still have it go through, at least that's how it used to be.

It's because your passwords have a limited character length... like 12 characters or something. Anything after that is irrelevant.
