What stiffness effects ?

When a ski is stiff, will it effect particular thigs like i know it will be better for all mountain but will light weight skiiers have more ttrouble ? is there a way to help light weight skiiers with stiff skis ? will landings be easier in the park$?

thanks

if a lite rider is agressive they can deff go with a stiffer ski i find a stiffer ski is stabler when landing but can be less forgiving

edge hold, overall stability(high speeds/landings), obviously buttering...ill add in some more when i think of them

do you think that a 159 public enemy or a 157 chronic wide would be suitable for my friend ? hes about my size maybe 105 pounds and is about 5'5 and is starting to freestyle. what are the comparisons between the pe n cw ?

^yea but if hes "starting to freestyle" and hes only 105 lbs id definately go with the 159s the 169 is probably gonna be too much ski for him

edge hold for sure. if you're looking at carving at high speeds, for example, you want a stiff ski. BUT, if you're a tiny guy, having a crazy stiff ski isn't gonna help because if you can't flex it, it's not going to turn! so it depends on the person. you can't say STIFF = THIS , SOFT = THAT, because it's not set in stone.

the more he rides em theyll soften up, that happend with my scratchs, at the start of last year i thought they were rediculously stiff and then i got better and they softened up and became amazing

plus in 90% of skis, the core profile matches the other dimensions, so the flex is scaled down along with the length.

really soft/floppy skis will get squirley at high speeds and in variable snow conditions, wheras a stiffer ski, of course being contingent upon the weight of the rider, can generally, but not always pow through a turn and be more stable. softer skis, as other have said are more forgiving.

thanks, my friend has decided to take the chronic wide because he thinks they're lighter. now, he thinks that he might have to trade them back in because he finds em too stiff once he brings em home but i told him they might be fine. hes 105 n about 5'5) what do you think ? he will use them for mostly park. also, he needs the lightest, yet strong bindings for him for his park...recommendations ?

if he weighs 105 lbs he probly doesnt need the strongest bindings out there.. markers are good though, not a lot of extra bullshit on em, pretty light, I dunno.
