Hi, I am considering what skis to get for next season since I have been skiing rentals and and want to buy soonish. I am considering Armada Edollos, Faction Candide 2.0, Armada ARV 86, Facet Regulator, and the J skis Whipit. I am looking for skis that will spend the majority of the time in the park and jumps. I am looking for a flex soft in tips and tails and firm underfoot. I am a beginner in park and intermediate/advanced elsewhere. Tell me if you have any suggestions on what I should get, since there are a lot of skis that fit this category of skis. I am 5'6" and weigh around 108 pounds. I made this thread a while ago but I have since changed what skis I am interested in, since I am finding myself in the park more often.

I have whipits they are super playful and fun in the park but they do chatter at super high speed. 10/10 would recommend 1.0’s seem to be the happy medium they are stiffer than the whipits but still super fun. (I skied my bros 1.0s for a couple days)

*whipits are wet noodles

I say snag a pair of price point skis. Like the Line Honeybadger. They are $279.96 on EVO right now. 92 underfoot also

I have some 18/19 171 head caddy’s in a good condition that will come with bindings for the right price. Check my thread for more info and pictures. They are great park skis and can carve too.

Those all sound like great options, although the all play would be a bit closer to the other two over the whip it. Same ski just a bit wider underfoot at 98.

yeah I am self aware, kind of... I mean I put a 'you know nothing about skis option' because really I don't know much

yeah that's a good point, closer to the other skis I mentioned compared to the whipit.

For all mountain playful that can jump as well I voted for Whipit's since I have a pair and that's exactly how I would describe them.

Out of that list I'd go with the ARV 96s. I'd also recommend looking at K2 Poachers though.

Personally I'd go with some Moment PB&Js if you are looking for midfat skis that are jibby but still stiff enough for jump lines but my second choice would be either the Poachers, ARV 96s, or Kartel 96s. Kartels will be the stiffest but rip the hardest outside of the park. PB&Js would be the most playful and the Armadas and K2s would be inbetween the two.

Those are super soft, fall apart like most Line skis, and are very narrow unlike the skis OP mentioned which are very close to or are midfat skis. Great for the price but not what he is looking for. Also you can find previous year K2s and Armadas for cheap. I haven't looked for Poachers recently but I got 2017 K2 Domains in 2018 for like $200 new.

Wow it's almost like a ski forum is a perfect place for the uncertain to ask questions. Obviously he could use the search feature but he obviously had a list of specific skis he was comparing.

Thanks a lot man! A lot of helpful information here.

No problem dude. There are tons of other great skis out there as well. It sounds like you want a wider park ski that is stiffer than something like Vishnu Wets or Line Blends but more playful than your typical slopestyle/competition ski, is that correct?

Yeah. The line blends are a bit too soft for me, but I have heard lots of good things about VISHNU wets and wides.

The Vishnu’s will be just as, and if not softer than the blends. Super flexy ski. But also hard to find mid season when they are sold out. But they have a great price I’d definitely recommend them.

Okay, that makes sense. I should read a roofbox review or something for the wets, since I have heard good things about them but I don't know the specifics. I know the blends are really soft and read about them though. Thanks for your help.

Read a few reviews and watch videos of people skiing them to get a good idea of how they ski

Vishnu Wets are my favorite ski I own and what I ride 99% of the time here at Granite Peak. If you want something with a lot of rocker and that is playful I'd recommend them. If you mainly do jumps and ride the rest of the mountain a good majority of the time I would recommend something else though. Also they are very narrow compared to the skis you mentioned.

Here are my top 5 midfats and top 5 narrower/average sized park skis. Keep in mind this is my personal favorites and I haven't even ridden all of these. This is based on my personal experience as well as my research. Also I have a different style than you, live in a different area, etc. These are in no specific area.

Midfats/Wider Park Skis (95mm+)

1.) ON3P Magnus 102s (would have put Kartels on here but for park I'd prefer the Magnuses unless I was tossing dubs and shit)

2.) Moment PB&Js (probably top pick if I was doing park and all mtn 50/50)

3.) Vishnu Wides (picking these based off of the fact that my Wets are the best skis I own and I love the shit out of them)

4.) ARV96s or K2 Poachers (put them as one slot due to how similar they are. I'd get whatever is cheaper or whatever one you think is cooler)

5.) Armada E-Dollos (was tempted to put Blends here due to how unique they are but I wouldn't want them as my only ski... kind of a novelty)

Honorable Mention: Icelantic Nomad 95s (could have been in top 5 but it was hard to choose between this and a few others)

Average Size/Narrower Park Skis (Below 95mm, most around 90mm)

1.) Vishnu Wets (IMO best rail ski and the most playful ski I've owned)

2.) ON3P Magnus 90s

3.) Armada B-Dogs

4.) J-Skis Whipit

5.) K2 Sight or Line Honey Badgers (not sure but both are similar, on the cheaper side, but neither really excite me a ton)

I could have listed a ton of slopestyle/comp skis for the thinner models but those don't fit my style of skiing so that's why they aren't in my personal list. The midfat/wider skis were hard to narrow down due to them being what is popular. Companies are shitting them out like crazy. As far as thin "playful" skis go, only the Wets and Magnus 90s really get me excited but that doesn't mean there aren't other good skis in that category. Every ski I mentioned is a very solid pick.

Since you are into jumps you could look at your traditional slopestyle skis like Atomic Punx, Volkl Revolt 87s, Fischer Nightsticks, Head Caddy, Salomon N NFX, Armada AR8, etc. I just don't know enough about those to recommend one over another but they might be some of the best skis for you... I just wouldn't be the person to tell you if they make sense or not.

the difference between 92 and 96 are minimal. Besides the rocker shape of course. But it sounds like OP wants to learn park skiing.

I broke them down between 95mm+ and 94mm-

What does rocker have to do with width?

Sorry, I just don’t get your comment is all. If you go by 4mm isn’t a big difference you can keep using that logic until there’s a 12mm difference, ya know?

Arvs soften up a ton and become extremely playful whilst still being the most stable ski I've been on. I can nose manual and tail manual on them with ease and then I can ski some east coast cop at 50 mph

I agree and disagree, the line blend overflexes easy as shit and they you just fall outta the butter. Vishnu on the other hand has a perfect flex they don't flex unless you throw yourself into it, Line blend are floppy noodle pieces of shit imo, vishnu is a flexible ski with good stability underfoot
