What skis should I get for midwest park and all mounting jibbing and where should I mount them?

I started skiing again last year so I'm not nearly as good as I once was and because of that, I am beating the shit out of my skis in the park. I bought 2018 K2 Domains w/ Attack 13s and mounted them true center for this (they were like $300 for the pair... if that). However, they suck everywhere else and aren't amazing in the park. They are fine for relearning basic rail tricks though and I already blew them apart basically because I am rough on them as I keep crashing and catching edges like a gaper, so I am happy I bought them instead of something nicer at the time. Because of this, I would like to buy a pair of nicer skis and bindings for the rest of the mountain and some park. I don't plan on using them on a lot of rail but I will be doing a lot of jibbing around the rest of the resort and doing a lot of jumps and shit. Also, I want to become very confident at riding switch everywhere, flowing around without poles, buttering, pressing, doing hand drags, lazyboys, etc. The skis should be able to handle "midwest powder" on snowy days but they don't need to be really wide. I'd say these would be for 60% park and 40% rest of the mountain but the following season they will be almost 100% park.

I am 5'11" and 180lbs, a pretty good skier and was once really good but I really need to relearn the style and trick side of things (especially rails and switch shit), won't use poles a ton, and normally ride true center.

I was looking at Line Blend 2018s or 2019s (are the 2019s worth $100-200 more..?), ON3P Kartels (I assume 96 would be better than 108 for my use?), HG Skis x Tall T Productions Keegan Kilbride 2018 Skis, and I was wondering if anything by Vishnu would be good for my needs? I am also open to other brands such as J Skis, Armada, etc.

Depending on the ski you recommend, what size should I get and where should I mount them?

As far as bindings go, I'm probably getting Attack 13s again since I can get them for like $150 brand new or I will splurge on Look Pivot 14s but Idk if they are worth twice the cost and the extra weight.

Sorry for the long unformatted post. At work and threw it together quick. Keep in mind I have my dead center mounted Domains for rails for now. If center mounted would still work well in this situation though I would love to continue rocking them but I'm afraid of speed wobble and lack of control/speed.

Thanks!

There’s never a right answer and everyone has a pair of skis they swear is the best. That being said, I spent 3 years riding the jskis allplay on my icy Midwest tow rope park. I can’t really speak for a lot of other skis, but if you want a durable, flexy, and good all around ski, you can’t go wrong with the allplay. They have some sexy graphics this year too imo.

HG is pretty dead (I THINK) but they do make some nice ass skis, vishnus are super fun, but are pretty skinny compared to a lot of other skis on the market ( blends kartels etc) if you never go into powder and are strictly park and groomers, vishnus should do the job. Imo they are the perfect eastcoast daily ski. Kartel 96 on the other hand, are one of my all time favorite skis, super durable, while being surfy and fun to ride; If you have the money for kartels grab em, you wont be dissapointed (as long as you like a little wider ski)

I rode the Domains in Michigan for a couple seasons, super fun skis. I could understand wanting something a little more stable though as their flat camber, soft flex & rocker made them pretty squirrelly at speed. Not that I want anyone to shy away from supporting the little guys but I would immediately rule out the Vishnu’s as you’d be buying a very similar ski. They might even be more flexible & rockered than the domains. Blends would be like a wider version, and if you’re a good skier you’d be able to handle them but again, they are very soft. If you bought the Blends in a 185 for an increased stability & float in the rare Midwest pow, center mounted them I think thatd be a decent fit for your needs.

The ON3P Kartel series would be stiffer than all the previous mentions, and depending on your budget I’d jump on those above nearly anything. The rocker would keep them playful, but the stiffness would allow those skis to charge hard. Also, I’m a big fan of wider skis so I may be biased (I’ve ridden 120 waisted skis as a daily in the Midwest, it’s actually awesome) but that being said the Kartel 108’s or Magnus 102’s (probably a bit softer) would be so sick.

As far as mounting goes, I’d say center mount. If the ski is long enough it’ll float in what little pow you may get. You’ll be spending the majority of the time jibbing around, skiing switch, & I I’m sure you’re a good enough skier where carving won’t be an issue.

Maybe check the armada ARV series too, or any more all mountain oriented skis that have jibbing in their roots.

Have fun out there man hope this helps moderately

Thanks a ton for the stoke and support! Allplay is definitely a super versatile, all-mtn freestyle ski. Super light and buttery for whipping tricks around in the park, but at 98mm waist plenty to be able to float any midwest powder you might get.

We actually have a couple pair of 184cm legnth allplay right now on the factory blemish page, if you're looking to save a few bucks:https://jskis.com/products/factory-blemish

And remember we also offer a 100% Money Back Guarantee! If you're not completely stoked after a few days of shredding send them back for a different size, model or full refund. Hit up info@jskis.com with any questions

Bit too expensive for me but I'll think about it once I open my dentistry practice and that's only a 5th of my yearly salary

I bought some 183cm Vishnu Wets before the Oranges graphic sold out (love that graphic). Going to probably finish using my Domains off and then start using the Wets though. Depending on how the Wets feel out of the park at Granite Peak, I might buy a second all mountain pair. Maybe some All Plays or Kartels.

I'm so stoked. Now to find good/cheap bindings to mount on them. I want to find Pivots for a fair price but I might just go with Attack 13s again since they are so cheap. If only I could find them around $150ish in orange...
