What skis...? I would appreciate any and all help

Hey everybody, I am in the market for some new skis. I am looking for a medium stiff all mountain/powder ski that can handle almost every condition you can throw at it without huge problems. I am 6'5" 180 pounds and still growing. I would like the ski to have rocker in at least the tip and regular camber underfoot. I come from a racing background so I like to ski fast and want a ski the arcs and turns well but is still relatively maneuverable in trees and such. I would like to experiment with skiing switch in pow and tricking off features so tail rocker and a good swing weight would be nice. I would LIKE to keep it under $750 without bindings.

Skis I am considering: 185 JJ, 191 TST, 190 Czar, 191 Caylor, 192 Rocker 2, 190 Bent Chetler, 189 Kung Fujas, 189 Obsethed, Line Blend, and 186 Jeffery but I am open to other suggestions. I understand anything under 190 may be too short because of my height, but I weigh below average for my height...

Any binding suggestions would also be appreciated. Thanks!

Try Line Sir Francis Bacons, They are good in pow and okay on the groomers. They say you can take them into the park but... i wouldn't recommend it. On the other hand if you wanted something like that but more park-oriented you could go for the line blend

Bacons would be too short and too soft for what he wan't to do. If anything from Line it would be the Influence 115 or the The 130, but even then I don't know.

Out of that list, the ones that stick out at me for what you're looking for are 191 TST, 191 Caylor, 190 Bent Chetler, and possibly 192 Rocker2.

Out of those, I'd say your best bets are 191 Caylor or 190 Bent Chetler. Both should suit you for the powder and the trees quite well.

Sorry for the double post...but this is bothering me...

HE NEVER SAID ANYTHING ABOUT PARK SKIS!!! He said he want to ski switch and possibly jib "features"...but he means in the powder, not in the park...unless I'm mistaken (which I'm pretty certain I'm not).

I never meant like "buy this ski for the park" it's a good pow ski that can rip all over the mountain but is MORE park and groomer oriented than Sfb's

Any other suggestions? How well do the Bent Chetlers and Caylors carve on hardpack? I am concerned the width is going to limit their performance too much. My only other skis right now are AR7s...should I go with a fat ski or should I look at more mid-fats?

Binding suggestions would be great too.

191 tst or 191.caylor is definitely the way to go. The tst is insanely good all around, and the lack of rocker in the tail gives u a good strong finish on ur turns that i'm sure ur acustomed to as a former racer. Imo I would buy the tst, but the caylor is another good option

Yeah I'm totally in love with the opus...pretty sure midway through next season your gonna be hearing quite a bit more about it than ya do now...it's magical dude....but I somewhat am perplexed by the caylor comment....I've heard the caylor lite is supposed to be all kindsa fun no?.....that's actually the first negative on3p comment I've seen.

And the chetlers are badass skis too....super fun and good swing weight....IMO not quite as good as the opus for me personally but it's a preference thing....I'm sure if I rode chets all day everyday I'd end up lovin em.

The Opus and SFB will be too small for him, if he's 6'5", and still growing(?), that ski will ride very short indeed.

You should look for something >188 and with a waist width around 110+.

Aside from the Caylore and Bentchetler, look into the Czar, maybe even the 4FRNT YLE (http://www.4frnt.com/skis/yle) or Renegade (http://www.4frnt.com/skis/renegade).

I have a friend about 6'3, and he was skiing on the Renegades last year for his all mountain/big mountain/powder ski. He said that they killed it in every condition out there.

Dude o got a buddy who is 6'4" and like 240lbs and he rides 185s with zero issues and prefers them because he says they're more maneuverable in the tighter trees and more technical stuff....says their much easier to throw around in the air as well....shoot I'm 6'1" and 195 lbs and I'm rockin the opus and it feels perfect....if they made a 190 I would still get the 184s.

It's all personal preference.

I too am 6'3, 175lbs, and I find that if a ski is too short, it can feel choppy and unstable at high speeds. I personally don't want to ride anything below 186 unless it's for park.

And as a big mountain skier, I like to have a lot of ski to charge on.

Yeah I def get it...I've said before that back in the day I used to rock atomic 205s for big mountain and dynastar 190s for freestyle.....now the biggest ski in my quiver is the opus....it's weird but I've actually learned to love shorter skis....I compensate on landings and at speed in exchange for more mobility....tried a buddies 191s though the trees and some drops....they were real good when it was wide open but as soon as the trees got tighter or I was tryin to spin I def noticed the extra length alot....do-able....jus not that natural feel.....but that's jus me...everybody's different.

For a surface ski, look onto the One Life (see my review), New Life or Live Life. This season, j am ordering the Live Lifes at 191 for my Big mountain/powder ski. I an really excited for them
