What skis are these

found these in a thrift shop for 40$ and figured I’d buy them for the heck of it since they weren’t a bad looking ski. But I can’t seem to see anything saying what model they are, I know they are Salomon but I don’t know what model or year. I’ve searched online and can’t seem to find anything.

salomon gun. not sure exactly what year but mid-late 2000s for sure.

they probably have a foam core and are absolute trash, good thing you only spent 40 bucks

Damn, I wasn’t really planning to ski them I was more hoping to re-sell them for a little more money. Hopefully someone will take them.

Salomon 1080 Gun (2007). Some marketing material with some specs:

These used to be considered a powder ski. Amazing how fast it changed. And how Salomon turned their backs on twin tipped skis.

people who ride twin tips probably want something a little burlier than isocell for their core. Anyone know what the hell that is actually?

Nevermind it is a fancy way of saying foam.

I had a pair of the “spaceframe” thrusters with the robots and thought they were fucking awesome until they exploded and I saw what the core was.

Also a good bit of Salomon athletes back in the day rode Dumonts with a different top sheet because the Dumont was full wood core.

They remind me of my foils. Great ski to learn on, but they can’t handle high speeds

dude I had the foils that were white with the red and blue writing, they def had the same core as these, maybe the same year?

Anyways, that foam core sucked I remember they were amazing skis at first but then at a certain point they kinda just wore out and became completely lifeless

Perfect metaphor for Salomon as a company now a days.

Were the 1080 guns always foam core skis? or did they start out being wood core and change to foam a couple years later

They started out as foam. Salomon only did foam cores for years, and it was the time period when they made some of the most popular park skis. I think in 2008 they made a dumont pro model that was composite wood and foam core, and around 2010 or whenever they made the suspects was when they started using wood for most models.
