WHAT SKINS SHOULD I USE FOR MY LIBERTY HELIX?

so i just got a pair of liberty helix 176. and i was gonna get some at bindings for them, but i just dont have the money to pay that much for an AT binding. But i know that you dont have to have an AT binding to do some skinning in the BC. its just recommended. i have bindings already mounted on them. The only problem is that now i face finding skins for them.
I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for them, or anyone who has had them. I know they are good AT/BC skis because of their lightness and all. i am not sure if i should buy skins, then cut them down, or order custom skins.
Also because they are twin tips im not sure if they will come off at the tails and get snow underneath them. So please help me cause im gonna be in the BC in a few weeks and i need some skins!
and if anyone has some cheap skins they could sell me that would fit them i might consider. but this is mostly for reccomendations.

i know that im gonna have to get AT bindings, and i know i am gonna within the next year. but for now i dont have the money. and ok ill check into the skins. thanks

Yeah what he said ^^^^^. Trekkers would good for the most part. If gonna do a lot of BC might want Marker Dukes. Remember most important items in backcountry are beacon, probe & shovel.

i check into that too. and i need to get a probe, cause mine broke over the summer cause my brother thought it was a pole vault.. otherwise i have a shovel and beacon. thanks

You need a beacon and knowledge of avalanches before you even head out of bounds. Because you're even considering using skins without AT bindings or trekkers makes me think you'll probably get yourself into a lot of trouble out there.

But you will need AT bindinds. I recommend Fristschi's. Some say dukes but they're heavy and you have to remove your boot to go between AT/Ski modes. Look at buying AT bindings as saving money on lift tickets and they turn out to be pretty cheap.

I have the G3 Alpinist and they does well but the glue is shit compared to Black Diamond. The Alpinist will fit any tip such as my Moments but you'll need to re-glue with BD. If you're waist is above 115mm I wouldnt worry about sizing up to trim the skin to fit the shape of the ski. Just order the size of skin that fits the waist. you wont have to trim and they could be used on other skis

i took a BC safety class last year, and i rented the skis and everything... so now i am just worrying about getting my own stuff.
and i heard fristschis are pretty good, but if i want to go off any cliffs i heard they they break sometimes?
and im looking into about every skin i hear of, does anyone know about custom skins if they are good or what?

ive heard that dukes are heavy as fuck get some frichse (sp?) at bindings their jizz in your pants awesome

Dukes are bit heavy. They make another model thats lighter but cant remember the name of it, Barron maybe?

im thinking about getting some trekkers, cause they are only like a quarter as much as actualy AT bindings, and they will last me for atleast a year. anybody have any?

I'm 6'4'' 215lbs and have fritschi's on Moment Comi's. Dropped cliffs, landed switch you name it these bindings have done. every model of bindings break.. thats what a warranty is for

frischis touring stride and pivot point sucks . If you never used another touring binding I'd guess you'd never realise it. Looks like they address this issue in the new explore models. Marker had a new lighterweight duke/baron at the SIA show that's gonna compare weight wise with naxo frischi and cut into frischi sales. Duke barons are heavy but a much tortionally stiffer and more durable in bounds binder.

Personally I end my ups on ridgetops and ussually kick it with a safety session or pit work the remove the ski to change touring modes never bothered me.

Alpine wreckers suck but git it done cheaply and will work on any ski

bd skins are the gold standard but the new tip connections limit your ablity to change lenghts. G3 skins are good and I prefer their tail attachments but agree their glue is not as good.

Beacons shovels and probes are tools like any tool the skill of the user is what matters.

what about the pivot point sucks? I'm not saying you're wrong but I've only used fritshi's and silverettas. I love my fritschi's. is it their efficiency or stiffness?

The pivot point is too far back giving you a frankenstride motion. Before dynawhompers upped to 12 din I rode silvertta pures freerides for 3 seasons much better touring stride as the toe pivot is forward. Not real tortionally stiff but I had great luck with them durabilty wise. The original pair ot damirs titainials I brought were great between me and converting one plankers borrowing them I got a good 500 days out of those and sold em as far as I know still going. I had nothing but trouble when they switched to freeride and plus. Cracked toe peices stripped rear adjustments etc not to mention every time you ski them the'yed get sloppier. If ya got the bling for them and boots dynafits are the touring binding you want.. 1/2 the weight, killer stride, tortionally stiff, durable etc

^ I can see where you're coming from on the stride but so far I havent really noticed that. I do notice how stiff they are compared to the silverettas. But I think in general when you buy a plastic binding you take your chances with durability. I do wish I could opt for dyna fits but dont have $
