I am done school for the year, and I want to make a road trip out to the mountains with a buddy. I am wondering what mountain will stay open the longest into the spring/summer, without ever closing. I am not gonna be in any summer camp or anything, so I will need a public access mountain.
thanks

mammoth is open till july 4th. hood and whistler are open until sometime in august. arapahoe basin is open till early june i believe.

Open until may 29th and the re opens the 24th for glacier skiing, mammoth as everyone said is open till July 4th

Timberline is open year round and has a public park that is pretty good. no need to go to windells or mhssc if you just want to ski some park

Meadows is pretty much shut down now.

I would also like to mention Beartooth Pass on the MT/WY border. rlissc.com Hands down the best June terrain and a small but decent park.

I actually believe it's the hortsmans glacier on BLACKCOMB not whistler...zinggggg

and snowbird should be open till july 4th this year with record snow fall..june 22 last year

Are they opening the rope tow again this year?I would still probably go to hood instead but just curious.

Yep, 2 poma lifts.. it's opening for sure. We might try and do a demo out there this June. Nothing's finalized but we've been talking about it. Also there is some sort of Freeride comp in mid May.

no it isnt... definitely closes at the end of may. almost guarantee they're at hood, not bachelor.

thanks guys!
im thinking about goin up to whis for a couple weeks, and i will buy a couple lifts passes and also do lots of skinning and hking on whister moutain which is closed. I will then road trip down to the US to hit up places like abay and mammoth for the early summer , and then mayb back to whis for summer shredding and downhill biking.
this wil be an expensive trip, but i worked my ass off all winter for this!!!
does my plan sound good? anyone have a better idea??

Timberline is open until september 2nd and then re-opens in earlier October for winter.

Whistler is open until sometime in august.

I thought the top of Palmer was the Palmer Glacier while everything else was considered a permanent snow field?

i think you're thinking of timberline, mammoth is closed for like 3-5 months depending on snow, hood only closes for mid september to mid october.

Months? Adding an s makes it plural, I think you meant "month". Plus, if you're going to drop money on Summer skiing, you might as well do it at the better mountain. Mammoth's park blows the fuck out of A Basin's (yes, even in the Spring/Summer) and you're still able to get about 3,000 feet of vert in July.

your forgetting crystal mountain in washington.

actually, your not missing out much here anyways, the park doesnt have jumps.............*sigh*

1. Whatever.

2. Never told anyone to go to A-Bay.

3. Don't care.

4. Thanks for the slap back rant though.

CO represent

although i bet mammoth is awesome as fuck, abay has such a chill vibe tucked away in the mountains, so much fun in the spring summer with everbody just shredding and having fun.

Amen, man. I love the small mountain local feel. Everyone can go flock to Mammy or Govy for all I care.

and thats really only for lift maintenance purposes.

even tho the snow is shitty, they could in theory set up a rail garden and push snow for a 3 jumpline fairly easily if they used all the snow up there in august and september, and normally by october theyre already getting snow on the palmer again. so technically they could stay open all year, but smartly they dont.
