What size ski is considered small?

racers have some skis lower then their chin...i think if ur skiin with twisn lower then ur chin...they might be 2 small id say about eye high or above would be a good size

With ski's there are two different ways to chose the size of ski. The first and most common way is height. More often than not people will use the chin method where the ski should be above the chin but below the nose. This works with a moderate skier but can hinder a ski with beginer ability.

The second way is to use the skiers ability to decide for a length of ski. When the skier is at a advanced level they should be able to ski a ski at almost any length. You still have to take height and weight into the equation because if you 6'4 and 200lb your not gona want to use a 120cm ski. Ushually for a advanced skier the given sizes range from 150-200cm.

I myself use a range of 165-198cm.

The last thing you have to ask yourself when getting a ski is what the ski is going to be used for. You would want a different length of ski for big mountian or bc than you would for a racer skiing a slalom ski race.

Hope that helped a bit

yea like filup said, a guy at a shop said that you should get them as tall as you are and center mounted, because then wen you grab true nose or something, everything is the same distance or something like that

everyone has different opinions but personally i like a ski as tall as me (for park ridding), for pow pow/bc i would enjoy a ski bigger then me, but then for groomers and such (teaching ) i will take a ski chin to nose hieght.

i think you also have to take into account the width and the type of skiing your going to be doing. i mean, if your only skiing park, you dont necessarily need a large ski, although some people prefer it. but for powder, i would prefer a longer ski, because i think the more surface are the better. but its all about what feels right for you

first it depends on how tall you are. If you're 6'2 and skiing 165s...they might be too short. It also depends on how much you weigh. just ride what feels comfortable for you

I hate it that my mom's 160s are faster than my 170s. But that's just life. I don't think I'll use my twins (when I get 'em) for racing, because that'd be pretty stupid. I'm 188, but... I don't think I'd feel comfortable skiing 190. Then again, I've gotten much better with speed etc. So I think I'll give 'er.

Word.

I like my skis as tall as me for park, and no skinnier than 90 in the waist,

and for mountian taller than me, and around 95-100+ in the waist.

excluding beginner/intermediate skiers, i think finding the right ski is all about whatever you think is comfortable. i've seen 6'3" guys riding 150s and chicks riding 190s (extremely rare), so it's all about w/e ski you want to ride on.

i just realized that ski can be interchanged with dick there and it works... haha

actualy what you do is find a pair of 215cm, and mount 2 pairs of bindings on them. That way I can spoon with my sloth while we share a pair of skis.
