What SD prosumer camcorder can I get for around $300?

Hey, I've been filming on my hi8 TRV-350 for a while now, and I'd like to upgrade to a camera with a handle for the season, but I don't have a ton of money. I've looked into the GLs, dvx, and of course the VX, but im wondering if anyone had any experience with a camcorder that could maybe give me some recommendations and advice. What camera is cheap and performs well on the hill?

pretty sure the standard price for dvx's and vx's is around 550, so unless you're going to up your budget good luck with that. i think GL1's and 2's around around 300/350 so that would be more manageable. i don't know of any other good SD camcorders with handles

also keep in mind you gotta buy tapes and you'll fuck up the heads pretty quick if you don't have a separate camera for capturing the footage onto your computer.

Maybe you guys call them something else here, but when I gamed cod we would record the tv output with a capture card... Same thing can be done

Or just log and capture with an editing program?
