What rope?

personally I use an Edelrid swift something 8.9. weights 52g per meter so it s fairly light. I am all around happy with it. I use it mainly for ice climbing and touring in the high alpines/ glacier areas.

^The Swift is a killer all around choice, whether you're talking alpine rock or glacier travel or something to ski with.

What kinds of applications were you going to use it for? Often I can get away with a 60m half/twin rope if it's only long rappels that I need but not necessarily longer pitches.

I would just use them rap into lines and to break cornice, with the possibility of the odd glacier travel day on Mont Blanc. I was thinking the Petzl Paso Guide in 60 m, as it is not a static rope like the RAD line or Mammut glacier one.

I use a 50m 8.9 "Simond" dry rope that I got from Decathlon... cost me like 120 US or something. seems to be pretty good honestly. I use it for everything from indoor top roping to outdoor sport climbing to the occasional skimo adventure.

Was looking at those, however the even thinner ones. Like the 7.6mm. Was wondering the durability on the one you have and the weight

are you looking for a single rope / twin / static? RAD line is great for glacier travel, rappelling etc but obviously you cant lead on it. Mammut serenity 8.7 is killer if your looking for a lightweight single

Honestly don’t have the skills yet to glacier travel. Would be with my guide and therefore he already has a rope. Mostly for rappelles into lines. So yeah lightweight, don’t mind whether twin/double or single cause I would always be using it to rap.

already have a different 10 mm 60 m rope for the odd climbing but way too heavy to bring around skiing

In that case I would consider static ropes if you'll never be leading on it: Mammut Glacier Cord, Petzl RAD line, Edelrid Rapline 2, BD 6mm static cord. they wont stretch when rapping and absorb less water
