some may see as padding up as being a puss, but as i get older and now ive got a good job to hold down and rent to pay, all that stuff, u start to think, shit, maybe i should get me some protection.

I dont wear any when just cruising the piste and having a laugh, but allways where the lid in the park and when venturing off the piste, but whos wearing back protection? how much would u recomend it, what to go for, and whats it like to ride with?

I have a POC receptor bug which I ALWAYS wear, which is a pretty high end helmet, so I should be safe from the vast majority of brain injuries.
Back protection though....... I don't know about that, I don't really have issues with landing on my back so I don't wear it. I've gotten into some pretty sketchy situations midair but I don't generally land on my back. If you're doing a lot of rails then it might be more appropriate but for jumps I haven't really seen much of a need.

ok, makes sense.

i havent been for a couple years apart from the local dry slope, but all we have is some small kickers and rails, so this year i really wanna progress and push it, been watching the tech talk, some cool stuff i definatly want to try haha, the backflip for one, over rotating could probably lead to smashing up ure back?

Standard protection:
HelmetBackprotectorCrashpantsKnee-protectorsAnd some kneebraces underneath
Then when going in avvy terrain that is supplemented with:Avvy beacon+probe+shovel+cellphone+first aid kit +avalung

I've fallen about 15 feet out of the air flat onto my back and been fine, but I was trying to do a japan/flat 3 backflip thingy. Didn't work so well. I was fine the next day though.
If you want to try backflips and are worried about over rotating, just make sure you pop and THEN do your backflip. You should be able to look at something in the distance once you pop and then flip. This will help you avoid over rotation and also help with basically any trick you do. I wouldn't worry too much about it if you can do solid backflips on tramp though, its basically the same.

im pretty good on the tramp at almost anything, not bragging like, just something i did when i was younger, back flips are a sinch, its just the fear factor on the slopes obviously, looking forward to it though, gonna have to suck my nuts up and get on with it.

also i dont usually do so much popping on kickers, just sorta ride off them and pump the transition to jump, should i be popping with the backflip?

LOL at the cobra comment, durex all the way man

Technically speaking you should be popping everything on a jump. Unless you're not popping for the sake of not popping, which is an entirely different thing. But on any normal trick popping is good.

you should get some ribbed ones for her pleasure, then turn that shit inside out for YOUR pleasure!

I wear a helmet sometimes but only if I'm going for new stuff and even then sometimes not. I was going to buy impact shorts last season because I got a hematoma, but the pads covered basically every part of you except the part I needed them too.

helmet when im gettin down, other than that just baggy clothes to soften the fall..... go figure ive felt real rocked after some rough days
