What pivot model

Hello Newschoolers, I have the money to get either 14 or 15 but I don’t know which one to get. I’m 5’6-7and around 126-28lbs type 3+ skiing only park next season. Din this year is 6 I think. Would it be good to get 15s since it’s lowest since option is 6? Or should I go 14 since it’s in the middle

have a good day

If you can swing it 15s will be best. The whole “your din should be in the middle” thing is BS. You get the metal toe which is what’s worth it imo. They’ll last forever.

Swing it? Not sure I understand sorry

he means if you can pull it off/make it work. he's right about the din range thing, it's a myth that you shouldn't use the highest or lowest settings offered on a binding's din range. but if there's any chance that you will use anything lower than a 6 then definitely don't get 15s

15s would be overkill for you right now; you could use 12s for sure at your size. but if you want them to last and/or you're still growing and you have a good price on them, the metal toe would be great for durability. def don't sweat it if you go with the 12s or 14s though

also agreed with the dude who said respect for preferring to buy from your local shop

Like afford it, are you growing? 15s+ will last much longer.

I ask if you’re growing, your din will only rise, but at a 6 you are perfect for 15s

So 15 is fine but preferably lower models, din is pretty much only 6

yeah if there's no chance at all of lowering your DIN from 6, you can go for it. they'll last you a long time if you want them to. plus you might grow a little, in weight at least (muscle or fat! up to you lol)

but you'd totally be fine on 12s or 14s so don't sweat it. go with your gut. also idk what prices youre seeing or if budget is a primary concern for you right now

No budge so far

Yeah it depends 15s will last longer ive broke a few toe pieces on the 12/14s im 160 and ride at 12 on a pair of 15s but yeah if you think you will still gain some weight like still filling out then i would go 15s but yeah up too you because you would be at the bottom of the din range

IMO this is what should guide your decision if cost doesn’t matter. Durability of 15s is great but safety is most important.

The pivot 15 is for sure more core given the metal toe piece.

If you won't put your din below 6 ever, buy the 15.

If you plan on getting new bindings next time you get skis go for a 14 or 12. If you plan on just getting new skis and moving the bindings over on your next set go with 15s imo. The 12 or 14 are a decent amount lighter though if that sort of thing matters to you

Think ill go with 14s, will shops mount them if they are from like 2017 and under ? I found a used pair of lime green ones near me

Green Ps ?

Im going with fks 14 since I find they fit better with the new Edollo but I’m not sure my shop will accept to mount them since they are practically ~9years old ?

yeah i don't remember what the cutoff is but it's definitely something to consider/check on before buying. i would think 9 year old bindings are NOT on the list of what they'll work on at a shop these days but idk, def check

I would double check with your local shop to see if they’re still indemnified. It usually takes 10 years for a binding to no longer be indemnified, but Pivots and FKS bindings seem to be the only exception as the technology hasn’t drastically changed compared to other bindings on the market.

It's not so much a design or technology thing as it is a materials thing. Metal fatigue and plastics breaking down.
