Its time for me to get new outerwear. I normally buy Orage but i dont really like there line this year any suggestions?

well you're on NS, so I'll tell you what you're gonna hear repeatedly

SAGA

Lethal Descent

Bloom

FD

Oakley

Armada

Oakley and armada have good stuff, but very popular, and saga is trying and the rest is crap...

but really the question is where do you ski? that dictates your outerwear. I see you're in montana, so I'd recommend this stuff, since I'm guessing you hunt pow...

Strafe Outerwear

Trew

Eira (3L stuff is good for the price)

patagonia (new freeride stuff)

Homeschool (PNW based)

Flylow (most durable stuff ever)

Black Diamond (started apparel for 13/14, looks sick)

So I'm assuming you have a lot of experience with all the other brands you listed? I am on the second season of my Lethal Descent outerwear up here in the PNW and I don't have a single complaint. Please, tell me why their product is crap. OP, I would highly recommend you look into LD. The new line they just dropped looks bomber for all types of skiing I can testify that last season's outerwear has held up better than any other brand I have used.

what you use outerwear for has a lot to do with what you think is quality. I just think their stuff fits like a garbage bag, and the fabric looks & feels cheap, and it is awkward to hike/skin in big baggy outerwear... and I highly doubt they're as waterproof as my 3L gore-tex Outdoor Research stuff. LDC is just a shitter version of Saga to me, and Saga is just starting to make stuff I think is quality... Quality is personal opinion.

To each their own I guess, I havent had any waterproofing issues, and I find it fine for touring. Do you know what year's stuff you were looking at? Because I am pretty sure their quality dramatically increased last season as opposed to prior years

Salomon outerwear. I know people hate on salomon but their outerwear is awesome. Mostly their super waterproof tech stuff. I'm on my third season with the shadow2 pants and they are the best snow pants I've ever owned. And I've had ALOT. No rips or tears. FEW cuts on the cuffs. They look brand new and I beat the shit out of my gear. They are super baggy and really waterproof. Thinking about getting another pair in a different colour

ya salomon made it right. the seams all separated and the zipper broke. not trying to bash salomon, just giving my experience.

it depends on the type of skiing you do. If you ski park or rip groomers then a 2 layer 10k or 15k stretch would be great. If you ski powder, tour, and hike, then a highly breathable 3 layer 20k waterproofing is what you will want. also make sure to buy from a brand that backs their product up.

LD is far from cheap. I have the leopard pants from '11 and they are the best quality material out of any ski pants I own. They are higher quality than any Orage I have ever owned.

I would suggest Lethal or Under Armour. Can't think of a complaint about either.
