What modern invention has had the most influence on your life?

For the past two hours i have been driving around in a deep state amphetamine psychosis listening to my favorite classical and romantic artists (Bach, Bethoven, Chopin, Debussy, ect.), trying to catch a break from APs and SATs. As I roam around the beautiful mountains of the Hudson highlands i thought of all the amazing thing the 20th century has provided for the world. I thought, what invention (if never invented) would have changed who i am today. I must say that it is the portable music devise, the cd player, the mp3 player, the portable radio, ect.

I can not count how many times music has brought me out of a deep depression. I grew up in a decent sized house in the middle of the woods. When i was in elementary school i would steal my brother's CD player and CDs from my fathers enormous music collection, and then wander the woods looking for joy. I soon realized the two things i enjoyed most were music and nature. Portable music brings the two together.

So I am sitting in the back of a Panera bread with my iPod, eating my first meal in two days, does anyone share this passion? If not, what modern invention do you enjoy the most? It could be a car, a computer, a camera. What ever it is, feel free to share.

The computer for sure, they are super fascinating. I mean, they fucking produce everything we see on the screen with electric pulses and a shit ton of 0's and 1's. Fucking crazy, man.

Yeah absolutely, the evolution of the computer is remarkable. What fits in the palm of my hand is more powerful than what was in the first space shuttles

internet and the computer no question. they have influenced the world more than any piece of technology in history.

I have to agree with everybody so far and say the computer. Computers affect everybody in ways big and small.

But honestly. I agree with the computer. Where would we be without it. Communication, entertainment, almost everything revolves around this revolutionary machine.

The Computer and Internet. Those two changed the world forever, the way we work is totally different. We are now a global village because of the internet.

who can say anything other than internet/telecommunications.
do you guys remember a time where you had to go to the library to look up information, ride a bike to a friends house and knock on his door to see if he's home, played games outside or solo on a shitty console?
now you can sit down in a chair all day and do your banking, find any information you want, beat off, talk to friends, play games, watch movies and tv shows, do your school work, do your work work, etc etc.
we dont even need bodies any more. all we need is our senses and half a brain. so really just a head. and fingers i guess. but as soon as we can control keyboards with our minds and not have to push buttons externally, we wont even need those. there's going to be no need to humans to have muscles. we're going to be cyborg entities that can operate everything from being in one place. just a brain in a jar controlling the world around us..

the telegraph, the phone, and now especially the cell phone. instant communication is something people for hundreds of years couldn't imagine. And now with smart phones, the great invention of the Internet is just as instant. Crazy

I'd say the automobile has changed the world more than the computer so far. The computer is most certainly in a VERY close second, but the automboile/truck have changed how we live drastically. That's just how I see it, the computer has most certainly change how we communicate, generate/send documents, etc., but the automobile industry has changed how we move, commodities move, and gave everyone a new freedom.

That's true, but when i'm depressed the worst thing i can do is surf the web. Computers make me much more depressed, and music eases the pain.

I could see myself living with out a computer, not without music

the computer gave way to many modern electronics such as MP3 and iPods. So I have to go with the good ol' PC. And what the fuck OP? Deep state amphetamine psychosis? what are you on? and should you be driving?

my personality would be drasticly different if it werent for skiing, its all my world revolves around....seriously

but the computer has changed some things about daily life too

the internet for sure. you have all this information at your fingertips. no longer a need for TV, newspapers, and board games because there are on the internet

If anyone in this generation says anything other than the personal computer they're wrong.
