Believe it or not, which you probably won't, especially with the amount of shit talked on newschoolers but i speak eight lanuages

french, spanish, italian, arabic, farsi, urdu, englsh and maori.

english. but i can speak regular english and gangsta english, a lot of people can't do that.

i'm also learning japanese.

Dutch,English,French,German,
and i understand, South African and latin quite OK .....and scandinavian languages i understand some words due to my knowledge of dutch and german...

When I was in exchange in Sweden, all the compulsory Swedish for Beginners- courses were pretty much a cakewalk for the Dutch and Belgian students.

lol dude.. south african?? the language is afrikaans.. and of course you can understand it if your mother tongue is dutch... its virtually the same

yeah, i tought Afrikaans was the way dutchies called it, but yeah, it sounds basically like a funky dutch dialect :)

for someone who sounds so condescending i would assume that you wouldn't assume south african = afrikaans. they have like a dozen different official languages, 2 of which are spoken more widely than afrikaans.

its pretty safe to assume when talking to a dutch/flemish person about south african language they mean afrikaans and not pone of the bantu's.

you make a valid point.. but don't you think someone saying that they "understand south african" sounds a bit more ignorant? sorry I_Am_God. just sayin!

key words in my last post being "fair enough" and the past tense "thought"

as in i accept your judgement and no longer care.

dude me too! i've been studying russian for the past year. it's hard as fuck to memorize all the case declensions! kind of like latin in that respect but a lot harder to pronounce the phonemes

german with a dialect(south tyrolean german, most ppl from germany dont understand it), german, italian, english.

mweh ive been there for an while and ive got south african family. it looks al lot like dutch but there are a lots of words that are different, but with dutch and english in your pocket you can understand it mostly :)

ya ya i'm livin in holland as well but a lot of my friends are south african and they all picked up dutch really easily cause they mostly speak afrikaans and english.

haha drunkenese, i have that so fast, it really sucks, after about 4 beers my speech just starts to suck but my mind is still clear :D
