What knee brace do you use when skiing?

i suffered from patellar tendonitis last year and the year before that because of too much skiing. What helped was something like this with a small hole on the knee so you can move more.

breg fusion. its okay, slides around a bit but it gives a good amount of stability. the best thing is keeping your legs strong though.

i have this one because thats what my doc gave me. i don't know why you would wear a brace if you dont need to though. your knee starts getting used to it and actually gets weaker. ive got a year in mine and then im done.

cti off the shelf model- does slide a bit, but really helps, if this helps, i had menisc surgery and ski without acl at all

BUMP. Really interested in these but dont know a whole lot about them. Last weekend I really twisted my knee good when my binding didnt release and I went to a ER type place and they diagnosed it as a knee sprain but its been a little over a week and Im scheduling an appointment with an orthapedic surgeon because there is still one type of movement that hurts like hell. What should I expect?

Well it is good that you are seeing an orthopedic surgeon. I had the same thing happen and went to a Doc in the box where they diagnosed it as a sprained knee. Ended up playing sports the next week with a brace and blew just about every ligament in my knee. I went to an orthopedic surgeon after and he said I had originally tore my acl skiing and subsequently everything else afterwards. He will check you out and then if he thinks you have a serious problem will probably send you to get an mri.

I use a custom Don Joy that kicks ass. I can tour and do everything in it since it is very light. Unfortunately they cost a ton and aren't worth it unless your insurance covers it.

I have a custom one from the Dr. Who did my knee surgery. It has hard plastic braces down the side and a knee-cap cup to keep shit in place. Ive been thinking about upgrading to one with metal braces though to protect from side-impacts.
