What is wrong with my videos??

So I was uploading footage from my camera (Panasonic HDC) not a really nice one but it gets the job done and it shoots in 1920 and 1440. Once all the footage was on my computer I tried watching it over and it was superrrrrrrrrr laggy (like extreme) and I thought well that's weird... So I tried uploading it into sony vegas and it was still super slow! My first thought was maybe it's the file type it shoots (mts. / m2ts.) so I downloaded a converter and tried everything from avi, mpeg, wmv, quictime and still no matter what I did my clips were still really laggy. The only way I could get them not laggy is if I threw it on sony vegas and published it then it streamed nicely but with all the lag it makes editing impossible and I don't want to have to publish a ton of clips just to edit my video. So NS Please I'm hoping someone has an answer to my problems!!!

sounds like its not your videos but rather your computer. its likely that your computer jsut doesnt have enough processing power to handle them... try and get your hands on a better computer and maybe things will go smoother.
