What is this type of ski?

Yesterday i was skiing and saw this gaper on something that looked like the blades of a snowmobile. They were the length of snowblades but were plastic. Has anybody else seen these things?
 
i have no idea.....

but this one time i saw a kid who had ski boots on with the base of a ski covering only the bottom surface of the boot....nuts
