What is the dampest big mountain ski?

I have been on rossi soul 7s for a while, and they are very unstable over chop at high speeds. I'm looking for something pretty stiff, and as damp as possible. I find when I'm hitting run-outs and theres a lot of chop my shins take a beating, its very uncomfortable, and the skis chatter a lot. I was looking into the 118 Black ops, or the mindbender Ti, any other super damp hard charging skis?

Blizzard Bodacious or Volkl Confession if you're looking for a legit, burly, directional big mountain charger. For something with a bit more versatility but still damp and stable, I'd go Moment Wildcat or Head Kore 117.

okay, yeah i think the head kore is too light, I find light skis chatter more and dont cut through crud as well.

I think the biggest dampest but still playful twin has got to be either the black ops, pro-to or the koala from DPS. If you are looking for something more directional then there is a whole plethora of skis out there that fit the bill.

What he said. Dont overthink it, get the black ops, they are heavy and damp. Absolute crud destroyers, you will beat yourself up for not getting them sooner.

I have some 188 commander 108s, while they do fine with chop, they are so light you better have strong quads if you want to mach deep chop all day.

In terms of twin tips from well known companies, black ops, 4frnt devastator or, moment wildcat are all pretty good in terms

of dampness.

if you are just straight up looking for the dampest ski you’ll have to go pretty directional and also go to older model skis, pretty much all modern skis are nothing in comparison to the old katana, or legend pro, or if you really want damp find some old stocklis in a shape that you like. Theres something special about a stockli stormrider that just lets you truck through anything, however all of these skis haven’t been made in 5 or more years at this point so good luck.

that was very helpful, yeah I think for a non directional twin tip the black ops are def the play

They still make stormriders I got pair for sale, but I can’t compare to pre 2017 vs now

still make the katana too

They don’t make the wide stormrider anymore, the 115, or the twintip 110 TT, both very well built and well skiing skis, just only came in lengths too short and too long for me.

the current katana is just the v werks version which is wimpy in comparison to the old one, rumors of a returning katana though so that may change some things.

fwiw I hated the confession when it first came out, obviously other people like it but I think they made that ski too light for how stiff it is.

True, ya I really would have liked to have skied a storm rider pro but the few I’ve found are beat to shit and it’s mounts further back than I like nowadays

do you weigh 250 pounds and are 6'7

Stiff ≠ damp. There are plenty of soft-flexing skis with very damp layups, and plenty of stiffer skis with very responsive layups.

Putting in a vote for the mantra 102mm 191cm , and of course confession.
