its cause this state just offers powder. no jumps or jibs to be hit, so there isnt much to talk about. thats why i'm off to utah next year, best of both worlds...

nah, i think this forum sux becuase of slickjames and his completely gay sig. shorten it up and people might start coming back. I think montana is pretty sick for skiing, maybe not in missoula but in whitefish for sure. Im gonna stick with montana skiing and no waiting in lines at lifts

 
big mountain isnt bad, but its 2.5 hour drive from missoula, just doesnt seem like the drive is worth it, especially to ski what it has to offer. after a few days skiing it, you have skied just about everything. i think there are parts of Snowbowl that blow Big Mountian away, except for there 50 foot cliff. plus their park is super crappy, and the weather is never good, unless you like wind and fog

lost trail is great. we have fresh powder every week, and great terrain, it's a little small, but we all love it. next year my freestyle team up there is gonna build somewaht of a slopestyle coarse with a table top and some big kickers, maybe some rails. check it out

perhaps the power is returning to this forum. If elected as the leader of the Montana forum I will move to strike upon the other forums...show them that MT is better than those puny weaklings from elsewhere!

Hey dylhole, if you think your state sucks for that stuff, go to Minnesota. I live in Minnesota right now but I'm moving to Montanta in August. If you want kickers and rails, just talk to the events coordinator at the resort and tell them they should make a bigger park to have comps and inform them that they can make some cash with a park added. We never had a park before but then we got together and now we have a pretty nice one. Its not maintained the greatest but its still ridable and we can still build on it.

i know where your coming from, i moved out west from Connecticut, so i hear ya. but good luck with getting a decent park in Montana, its a waste of time. For the past two years i've been talking with my two local mountains about it and have gotten knowwhere, actually its gone downhill. last year one of the mountains had a 10 foot table top, and this year it was never open to the public, only the freestyle team could hit it. the management to the mountains is horrible, they just turn there back and cater to the telemarkers..

The way i look at it, the skiing is only going to get better in montana. THere is no way that it could get worse. Big mountain has always had a good park. There are people who work there who only work on the park. All day, they ride the park and find ways to improve it, make the landings better, shorten tables etc. Then the next day, the park is different. Plus i heard that they may create a small area specifically for a park on a different mtn near the bottom of chair six on that small mtn., this is just a rumour. But it wouldn't surprise me because that mountains is really making alot of money and expanding all over the place.

 
big mountain 3 years ago: decent park, and halfpipe

big mountain 2 years ago: decent park, one 40 foot table, and they decided to trade in their halfpipe for a few more condos.

big mountain last winter: small park, not a table near 40 feet.

snowbowl 2 winters ago: one 15 foot table, one rediculously small hip, one flimsy, flat rail

snowbowl last winter: no public park.

marshall mountain 2 winters ago: a joke, a few 2 foot lips to flat landings.

marshall mountain last winter: a joke, a few 10 foot rails, 2 c boxes, one 10 foot table, double kink set up like crap.

marshall mountian next year: ?? who knows, but joe pope is leaving and he was the only person to do anything with there 'terrain park'

--so good luck to all who stay in montana to ride park and pipe, hopefully something will change, it needs too...

heh, that is so god damn gay that they sold their pipe dragon a couple of years ago. I was just starting to get half decent and airing out of the pipe fairly high and then the pipe never came back. Although big mtn. is nothing compared to breck, whistler, or mammoth, they do a good job and actually make an effort to make a good park. There are alot of natural jibs all over that mountain if you get sick of the park.

 
I agree with concept. We should ban slikjames and his gay sig from this forum. just go eat you're llamas james.
