What is it that you hope to get out of skiing?

Obviously one can get a lot out of the sport of skiing. Why do you do it and what do you hope to get back out of the sport?

The feeling that I've actually done something in my life, to actually have something that I'm good at.

And sore shins.

For me, I do it for many reasons including:

Fun

Physical fitness

Meet new people

Great reason to drink beer

Push myself

Watch sport progression

I get my happiness, joy and euphoria... Every day on snow makes me feel alive! I love to progress, but more so I just love the freedom I experience on skis! Doesn't matter the season, not a day goes by that I don't wish i eas skiing or think about it! Skiing is the one thing in life that brings me back to being a kid! Just lovin life !

the feelings of going fast and flying that no other sport can do for me. its always such a crazy feeling to be at the top of a double black, bomb it, then look back up and realize how much ground you covered in such a short time. then hitting jumps is my favorite thing ever. straight airs for days to take it all in

Adrenaline rush, sense of adventure, good memories, and a good group of like minded people. It has changed a lot over the years, but this is what I want from skiing right now.

I have done a lot of sports and never stuck with any of them except skiing since I was little, its the only sport that im good at and am passionate about so it keeps me feeling accomplished

To me, skiing is the most amazing thing in the world. We have aircrafts, spaceships, race cars, and motor boats, which are all as thrilling as they are impressive, but nothing compared to skiing. When you're skiing it's just you, your equipment, and the incline you're riding down. Whether it's 3 feet of fresh powder, the railing from the library to the street, or the 80+ft jumps Whistler deems safe to public, you can get down them with only 2 pieces of wood strapped to your feet and a jacket that's just a little bit too big.

Words will never do it justice.

Looking back when im am like 80 years old and thinking daym that shit was legit. I could do like a cork 7 off a jump made of snow.

Standing on top of a sick line, knowing that you're right about to rip that shit. The fell of fresh powder hitting your face as you do your turns. That flow you sometimes get into when skiing pow. The thrill of going down groomers fast and feeling your edges gripping the snow.
