What is emo?

emo is just a general label for a style

I've been called emo, but whatever, guys call me gay for my hair and clothes, but the chicks dig it, so am i gay for liking women? i think not.

and anyone who makes cutting/depression jokes are fucking stupid. do you actually know anyone with chronic depression? it's no joking matter. fucking assholes
 
When was the last time you've been to Italy? The jeans an average young Italian person wears aren't even cut the same way as the archetypal emo "style." It's not even a good comparison because Europe is usually a few years ahead of America in terms of tastes in fashion. It's also a moot point because fashion evolves. I wear cloths that fit comfortably loose (not baggy). I enjoy the way I dress because it has a degree of neutrality that no one associates with any tired pop-culture stereotype. I also don't associate myself with any of these "movements" because they are trivial, immaterial, and irrelevant in the grand scheme of things (i.e. life). Thats why I'm so critical of the emo, gangster, and euro-posing wannabe trash. Quite frankly, I think its all meaningless drivel. I have no problem with trying to be individualistic, but I also think that should come with some sense of propriety.
 
it just pisses me off when people feel they need to label themselves. i have an idea...how bout you label yourself as yourself...and not what you see some shitfucks in a band wearing on MTV
