We bitch about tourist, but how would you define a local? I'm on the front range, never would say I'm a summit county local, but never would say I'm a tourist gaper either.
Im a local because i live here, and it doesnt really matter except when joking about LOC status, i do get annoyed by the 9 million gaypers thats dont live here crowd alpine but they fuel the economy so i guess il live.
A local is someone who's at the hill at least 3 times a week. And is known by all the lift attendants and such, and barely ever goes anywhere else to ski. Sort of a ski bum to one resort, like me.
hahah, yea. The lifties know me, and we talk and such. But today, some random ugly new chick asks for my pass. I was like, what the hell? Go back to sweeping the garbage off the floor of the cafeteria. And everytime I went down that run today, she kept asking me, I wanted to smack her.
Ya at kirkwood last year i knew all the lifties and this year they went to peru or some South American country and hired all workers, i dont know if they even speak english besides the works ticket or pass, they just point and say ticket or pas and wave ya threw. and it is like they dont have a memory they never remember you if you had a brite green suit that said some thing stupid on it.
today at fernie the daylodge was crammed with people from alberta for reading week. got a discount for telling the cashier I was local. Damn albertans were crammed into the park too. I don't mind the ones that actually ride it but its annoying as piss to have to hike a jump 2-3 times so you can hit it without having to abort last second because of some kid ducking the ropes right into the in-run.
Reaping all the untracked, smokin blunts, and drinkin with ski patrol after the day, poaching the lift line when its long, tellin gapers to not lay in the jump landings, building that kicker, givin all the lifties a nod...without showing anything , giving shit to tourists who litter trash in the mountains, and being on the hill most days if not everyday.
I dunno but I definately dont live next to the resort, I'm like 45 minutes away but I'm there like 4-5 times a week so I consider myself a regular. Locals are just there all the fucking time life super close. Regulars are cool, weekenders are ok, and the gapers gotta go.
