What have you done lately?

Hey NS maynes,

M&A is all about consuming what others have done. But what have you done lately? Share your angsty music, movies or whatever you feel like.

Get creative, create and share!

I feel like M&A is a bit slow atm. I'm sure threads like these have existed in the past, but they are all kind of buried. To get this to work you have to critique other peoples stuff otherwise it becomes boring and turns to shit pretty fast.

Anyways,

Check out my new mixtape, fam. It's on fire! No, I'm just joking, but I have a fresh new track. I've just recently borrowed my fathers recorder to get some more accoustic vibes in my mixes. Enjoy and critique!

The feeling of the video is on point, it's a nice film that probably fills it's purpose!

After one watchtrough I can point on some flaws. Work on the composition in the static shots and the pans could be smoother, but I guess a boat is a boat. Some of your shots where badly lit or straight up under-exposed.

My main critique has to do with the audio. In some of your shots you heard the kids in the background louder than the actual interviewee. The audio mix blending the music and the talking could be better aswell.

I worked really hard all summer and didn't have a lot of time off. But, now that school is in session I get one day a week to go out and have fun, so I'm practicing my techniques that I maybe got a little rusty on. A nice Pano shot of Mt Hood yesterday.

Funny, I used the same track in a video for a non-profit this summer. I thought your video was put together pretty well though, the audio was pretty good at the beginning but later could have been much stronger and would have made it more impactful. Getting rid of the 'ums' and 'ahs' while it's not talking head on screen would have made it more polished as well. Would love any critiques on mine as well

I recently shot this, just kinda goofin with some friends and one of their younger brothers,

Which i think came out pretty well,

I have also been shooting some videos of people's cars as i get more and more involved in Burlington, Vermont's Car Culture

The picture on the home-screen is hella dank! Nice website overall. The only change I would do is making a overview (like a grid or something) of each tab/genre of photos rather than a "next" button.

Very neatly put together yo!

But man, I'm not sure about the film burns over the photographys. I get that you want to make the video less static by adding something that's dynamic, but I'm not really feeling that effect.

I would do something like this:
(0:10 and forward). It's done to death (no pun) in recent years, but I think it would fit your video well.

For sure man, appreciate the input. It was a rushed edit and like you said just didn't want it to be static images with no transitions, but it's something I really need to work on and I think that would have looked better too.

Always love honest feedback so here's another one I recently put together for another non-profit

Thanks for the responses. I know the audio was bad and thats a big thing I'm focusing on in the future. The problem with the lighting was that we were on a boat with 30 other people and they told me to pack light so I was only able to bring to small lights that I only was able to use for the beginning interviews because I had very limited time for the other interviews when we were actually on the boat. I had to grab people and take them to the side quickly for like a 5 minute interview with minimal setup (mic on top of camera, nat light, etc.)

Nice track OP. I listened to Solitaire as well, very chill. This thread is awesome!

Unfortunately, I haven't gotten to work on any personal projects because of work over the last couple years. However, I will share my studio's latest demo reel! We did a tonne of work on this show and we're all stoked with how it turned out. Can't say I watch vikings but I hear it's great, and the visuals are on point. If anyone's into VFX I do compositing and roto/paint!

I finally finished (not really I still have some bits to fix) my reel for this year.
