We all know that skiing evolved from snowboarding in a huge way, from grabs to off axis rotations and much much more. But does anyone know if snowboarding has progressed and been pushed because of skiers? If so, how? And where?

13882342:strayln_Skier said:Yes. No one has that feature on their surfboard.
13882407:appleton said:He literally got the idea from a surfboard. Also, Shane mcconkey had the idea of rocker. Don't think skis or boards had rocker before that.

13882627:strayln_Skier said:Yeah ok so there is a few things we have acquired from surfing. But is not like Chris Benchelter completely took something from surfing. That design is just something Rob was just mucking around with and it never actually gets used in surfing. The boards they were riding in the video didn't even have it. If your thinking of it that way you could say skiing stole the use of fibreglass off surfing.

13882733:gapersarefriends said:Bullshit. This a george greenough edge board that he started shaping in the 1960s...Look at that and tell me that the bent chetler tips do not have this same exact shape![]()
13882751:joelski said:rocker is also in kayaks, canoes and probably sail boats
13882763:strayln_Skier said:Yeah I know mate. Surfing has used that shape before. I've been surfing my whole life, am far better at surfing than skiing. I've also worked as a surfboard shaper. All I can say is that i've never seen a board with that shape.
Far different to skiing taking twin tip designs from snowboarding. It makes me wonder if anyone has tried putting channels on skis. Maybe they could have an advantage in powder. (or not?) But from experience channelled surfboards are faster for sure.

13882784:gapersarefriends said:Hm well i know for sure there are some guys in australia working on more retro/alternative boards that have more of a similar hull...guys like corey munn. Maybe not as familiar with logs? I log 95% of the time and so many boards have a big belly/hull to them
13882818:strayln_Skier said:Yeah there is a retro/hippy movement in the Byron bay area. Not with that hull though. They have twin fin boards too small for them and 20 inches wide... and no legrope. No I don't longboard. I ride 5' 11"s and 6'1" step ups.

13882715:DeebieSkeebies said:highly disagree. boarders have been laying down wicked carves for years now, new wave skiers totally bit that shit from them. I think Thirtytwo or whatever does a flatland comp at brighton/other resorts every year that has been ongoing for years.
