Fair enough. That being said - If Jon did it first, and named it a Tornado, is it not still officially a Tornado?

There are too many tricks that have their own unique name. If we used them all it would over confuse the sport, especially jump tricks. It makes more sense to use the actual description of the trick so people know what is being done... switch dub 12 - take off backwards spin 1260 while doing a dub. This makes sense even to people who aren't skiers. Tornado would just be a name that would confuse a lot of people and doesnt tell you whats actually done. Plus Jon Olsson (who is a legend) loves to own tricks by naming them (only person i know of who has done a trick first and tried to name it except Joe Murrel and the pistol flip).

no because the naming convention already has a name for that trick. tony hawk landed the first 900 but it doesn't mean he named it and now they go "540, 720, hawkspin, 1080..."

i forget, my guesses would be bobby brown or one of the euros...first ones i remember seeing were by them or bobby

Might have been Mike Wilson actually. He has a bunch of firsts for dubs and dub corks. Dunno if he did any switch though.

naw i'm sure i'd remember if it had been him. not quite his style either, sw dub 12 is a really technical trick

if i had to bet right now i'd say bobby brown but idk

well, at least NS will serve as a great primary source for future historians

a world history style hardback textbook of the history of freesking/newschooling would be super rad. With all of the dates and names of people who did tricks first or made them popular, plus covering all of the comps and movies over the years that mattered and with in depth sections on influential riders. Not to mention also covering how style had changed and branched over the years

wait hold up i was being dumb. i think the vid in OP of this thread might be the first sw dub 12, in fact. jon def had some of the firsts... i believe he had the first dub 12, and sw dub 10 i think...i know he had the first on 2 or 3 of those 4 (forward and switch dub 10 and 12)

i think this ""tornado" might have actually been the first sw dub 12
