What flex should I get?

I am in a Tecnica Mach 1 130 right now and have just been having bad shin bang. It feels as I can’t flex the boot very well and was looking to go a little softer. I use to ski a lot and have taken a break. I’m just starting to get back into it and am still a aggressive skier. I was thinking of a 120 or 110.

Is your boot too big? I have a mach1 120 and a Cochise 130 that feel the same flex wise and I get 0 shinbang with either.

It doesn’t seem to big. I got sized by a boot fitter. Wear 10.5 shoe and have a 27.5 boot. I’m 150 lbs.

There are things you can do to soften a boot without replacing it entirely so maybe go back to the boot fitter and present them with your problems. I'm the same weight as you and every 120 flex boot I've skied felt like I was gonna tear my achilles in any rough terrain from over flexing so ankles are weird and flex isn't directly proportional to weight and how hard you ski.

You can take a screw out the Mach 1 130 spine to loosen it. Can’t remember if it’s top or bottom screw. I believe it’s top screw. I dropped down to the Mach 1 120 and got booster straps and the boot feels so natural with my foot. The perfect flex and angle for my foot. But the problem is that flex is entirely personal. Try taking the screw out first.

Personally I think 100 flex is the sweet spot

There is no "sweet spot" for flex, and what works great for one skier might be awful for another, even if they're the exact same height and weight. Making generalizations like this is a great way to get people in a boot they're going to hate.

That being said, you should just get Full Tilts.

In Full Tilts, for me at least, the cuff angle makes a world of a difference in the feel of stiffness. Removed the cuff wedge which adjusts the forward lean from my Dropkicks and now ski them at the upright most position and feel totally comfortable with flex8 (100ish), it even feels a tad too soft. Previously skied the stock flex6 tongues (80ish) with the small cuff wedge which gives you a very slight forward lean, and the boots felt way too stiff for me. Like totally solid with zero flex.

Did you go to a shop that sells boots that sizes you? Or did you go to a real boot fitter and have them fitted?

I mean I wear a 11-12 depending on brand and my 27.5s are almost too big. I think they’re too big for you
