What Film Camera?

So I need a film slr for my photography class and I have no idea where to start.Since it is for school i don't want to spend very much on it and it will not replace either of my digital cameras. My budget is under 100 dollars (about) and I want to get a camera that gives me a nice image but looks different from my digital images. I want it to be a 35mm (idk if they are all) and i would also prefer a reliable brand (nikon, pentex, canon) and last off i would like it to be sort of a vintage camera. (nothing too new)

So far i have looked very little but have found a nikon FE and some of the shots i have seen on this looked very cool.

+k for help Sorry if I am clueless about things this is a very new topic to me and before this class i was not too convinced on shooting film... Hopefully i can learn a new skill tho

really solid. or a canon ae-1. those are all you need and with a nifty fifty on there you will be set up to take great pictures. i personally use an older version of the k1000, a pentax honeywell spotmatic and i'm in love with it. i shoot all my 35 mm stuff with it

This, or the Nikon FE or the Canon AT-1.

Not that I said the Canon AT-1 and not the AE-1- which have way more electronics and are prone to electrical issues now that they are 40 some-odd years old - The AT-1 doesn't have auto exposure or shutter speed priority. so less electronics, more manual, better for beginners. It retains the very accurate light meter from the AE-1 and exactly the same layout and feel.

The Nikon FE is absolutely fucking fantastic. Even though it has some electronics in them, they are made extremely well and are stupidly robust. They have a super accurate light meter - more accurate than the K1000/AE-1 and are possibly more accurate than most people's ability to use it properly.. It just fucking works great. The battery life is so long you forget about it (My brother gets about 4 years or something out of his - so it's not like you need to worry much about it...) It also works well in cold weather. I've taken my brother's out in like 20 degree snow days and it works awesome. It has a great viewfinder that shows you all you'll need and is crystal clear. Lastly, the thing uses all lenses from nikkor dating back to 1959 - so you have an insane amount of lenses of very high quality that you can use.

Ultimately, if you can find an FE for around 30-40 bucks, absolutely jump on it, because even though it IS more electronic AND more advanced than the Pentax K-1000, you can get a little more use out of it - not to mention, you'll save film very well - as it has silly good film economy, meaning just about every single shot that you take will have absolutely perfect exposure - unlike a lot of newer cameras that won't wind correctly - even the K1000 can be a little finicky as it's not the most accurate in this regard.

Go for a Canon FD mount camera for sure, the lenses are amazing an much cheaper than Nikon/Pentax/Oly glass that can be used on modern Miror dslr's. Keh.com is a great place to get reliable used vintage gear, buying on eBay is ify, most actions are no return and in tested.

You just gotta make sure it's a good seller. As in 100% rating on a shit ton of sales. I got my F5 on eBay and couldn't be happier.

Still keh will probably be cheaper and you don't have to bid, it's all buy it now. Most of the time bargain items ten to be in great condition for their age, there are some steals on Canon manual 35mm slr's with a 50mm.
