What DSLR?

I'm not answering the questions because I'm a camera enthusiast and want a second opinion or so, my description will be good.

Right now I have a Nikon D40 with 18-55 and 50mm f/1.8 I feel like my photography talent is being held back due to the camera.

My papa is letting me upgrade my camera, and I have a buyer at school to buy all the camera stuff for $250. My papa will maybe put in $500-$600.

So here's the dilemma.

I shoot photo's because that's all my current DSLR will do, I like shooting video and photo about equally. I shoot with my friends T2i alot, and know more about it than him. I want a camera that will shoot excellent photo, and okay video. I'm willing to go with a Nikon or Canon. I really don't want a T2i because I don't think the photo capabilites are that great on it. I will be using the camera to make an edit or two but mainly shoot photos.

Should I get a T2i (pimp ass glass), 60D (one prime for the time being) , D90 (the kit lens for the time being), or D3100 (pimp ass glass) Or something else

Watch t2i prices drop with the introduction of the t3i and cop a t2i with one of the 17-50ish 2.8s. I'm not sure which is the best, but I think it is the tamaron model without IS.

60D or a D7000 depending on Nikon/ Canon preference, amount of money you have and how much video really matters.

d7000 if you want great stills and still good video. I love mine.

Canon are really just as good though. its all preference.
