What does the NS community want?

I find it very interesting that the style of edit has such an influence on the popularity of a video. So my question is, What is the style that newschoolers is the most accepting of?

Also what went wrong in the edit that I posted recently. I want to chalk it up to newschoolers being close minded in the type of editing they like, but that's most likely not the case.

Personally I thought that was such a sick edit! Correct me if I'm wrong but I dont think theres really one style of edit that NS really likes. Cause if you look at 403Media they got some mellow music, slow mo'd edits and then there's some people out there that make heavy rap and really fast paced edits.

The only reasons i see that your edit didnt blow up or get more views (it still got quite a bit for a newb) is the music and the title (its a little confusing at first) and maybe the fact that your a newcomer. I think more people are likely to watch something from a donator or someone with more posts etc.

Keep on doing what your doing cause i like it and I'm sure others do too. Soon you'll be getting more attention
 
I thought your edit was good. Good shot selection and skiing, but nothing really stuck out in the wow factor category. Slo-mo, glide cam shots and chill odesza type music are not that original anymore. If you want more views and up-votes, try doing something no one else is doing. I know that sounds cliche, but that's the only way more people will notice an edit and make it blow up.
 
i guess it depends on what you consider popular. 86 up votes and 2k views is pretty popular on NS

what where you aiming for?
 
I liked it man. I loved the shots. I think your editing really complimented the tricks as well. Although i was not a fan of the song. It felt out of place. I also felt that a little more sound design could have brought it to life. There was a lot of low end frequency wind coming through adding alot of mud to the mix.

Overall great job. Smeegs killed it as well! Cant wait to see your next video.

As for popularity on ns... Do what you want in a video. Focus on what you really care about and do things the way you do them. Never worry about how well it will do on NS, you will only be disappointed. If you do something unique and true to yourself, eventualy your edits will be popular. It takes time and work to gain recpect and and style that you and other people like. But at the end of the day if you get 200 upvotes and alot of views but your not satisfied with the edit what does it matter?
