Hello Colorado. Ive got me a job at Breckenridge for the season and I desperately need some new skis. Im coming over from the icy slopes of NZ but Im more used to the deep deep powder of Japan (its no myth yo!) so Im wondering what skis you all ride and what kinda snow I might be looking at in Colorado.

cheers fellas (thats nz english for thanks)

Well your mostly gona be skiing at breck. and breck is pretty flat and groomed. and pow doesn't last too long I would sugjest just a regular pair of mid fats. The pe', tm's something like that.

Snowflake, right on baby, right on.

breck pretty much sucks except for their KICK ASS PARK. it is huge, best in CO i would say. ull like it. but, breck gets boring because there is only the park and the t bar is good (t bar is ok). so, i would suggest getting a copper/winter park pass or a buddy pass (breck, keystone, a basin, a basin stays open till july 4th) because then you have a choice. and if u have money, get both copper/wp and buddy pass. or colorado pass if you want keystone, breck, a basin, and 10 days at vail and beaver creek. there is some good pow here, but not at breck. get normal skis. but if u go to other places besides breck, get some slightly fat skis

cool, thanks for the info. thats narrowed it down lots. Looking forward to getting there and seeing what America is all about. No worries about the pass as I get a 5 mtn pass for Breck, A-basin, Copper, Vail and Keystone so will be able to check them all out but am def stoked to up my game in a decent park.

peace

copper's not included in the 5 mountain. it's beaver creek which is near vail. copper and winter park are owed by a different company so they have their own pass deal.

i have a pair of 2003 165 cm concepts for sale if you're interested. brand new. shoot me a message.

but copper is crazy croweded, so your not missing much, although it is a very good mountain.

UNBAN MOMMY!!!!!

I know some people that ski fat skis all the time. There's days when the aren't so fun, but if you're going to be working on the mountain as a liftie, you don't get to ski all that much anyways. You should try as many skis as you can before you buy anything. Get what you like and think will ski the best all of the time.

Over time, most people experience life involving love, sufffering, compassion and an uspeakable drive for something new... for me there's skiing, nothing more nothing less and it encompasses everything, every day I'm out there.

yah, i would say definently get a copper pass, the mountain is so sick. and so is their park

Im runnin the Troublemaker right now, but business may require me to ride the AR5. Both are mid-fat twins, designed for park but work all over the mountain. Breck sucks for everything but park. Keystone night skiing is fun for sure, and it has some good long cruisers and some natural jibs. Vail is sick, if you want to pimp it in vail, call me and i'll show you some shit. Beaver Creek is awesome, so many logs and natural jibs, plus a lot of good trees too.

Snow here is dry, fluffy, and usually comes in the form of 4'-8' (8cm to 18cm) of powder that gets packed down within a few hours just by people skiing it off.

You will love Colorado, and i hope you love America.

Somtimes I just like to sit back and allow all the ignorant people in this world easily ammuse me. Other times they just piss me off.

Im an aussie heading to winter park soon, I will only have my rossi b1's, just wondering how something like the scratch BC would go over there. I like the park, but I only go there if the rest of the mountain is bad. (Or if the swedish womens slopestyle team is in town ;) )

In tractor pulls, a 'full pull' is the best you can get. Ahh, how sport mirrors life.

i would get the colorado pass, its the best. more mountains. but i hate breck, i cant stand being in the park all day, and hte mountain is flat as hell and sucks.

Breck is so much better the Copper or winterpark, the lines @ winterpark are incredibly long, copper is really hard to get around the mountain and the lines are long, go to vail or Breck, they are the two best mountains

dont talk shit,

just ski.

Breckn' Flats Blows! Mary JAne is where it's at 3,000 vertical feet. Breck can't even come close unless you want to hike for ever. Mushroom Patch!

You say Coppers hard to move around on? You must not know the mt very well, Breck is a flaming wreck when it comes to getting aroudn that place, but it's still got some cool stuff. I say Copper/Winter Park is the way to go, Vail is far, most of the time crowded like Breck, and Keystone is the definition of suck, sorry that's just my opinion. Then again I don't ski in the park unless it's on my way down or nothing and I mean nothing else is open. But that's just me.

WHO GIVES A FUCK!! People have there own opinions on different mountains! I ski Breck because I like it. Bro, you will have five mountains to choose from with your free pass! You will find a hill you'll like to ride on your day off. Copper is good for certain aspects, as is Breck. Have fun when you get out here, and dont worry, not all Americans bicker like a bunch of schoolgirls! Ride a little before you purchase, go to Mountain Sports Outlet in silverthorne, and get your 30% discount on skis as a Vail Resorts Employee!

Here's a question for the guy from NZ who started this topic- I am going down to Dunedin for a year. Any recommendations for where and what to ski??
