Alright, lay it all out here...what do you guys want to see in the scene around the maritimes that is lacking right now? Be honest but not stupid......

MORE.

more jibs in particular.

Does martock have a limit on the amount of rails they can have in their park due to insurance?

i think the nova scotian scene is lacking time. with the level of enthusiasim and the support from skihills is where it needs to be, but time is required to perfect construction techniques and monetary support. i put all i had into making wentworth a better place to ride, and i hope others are taking over and being polite in the process (somthing i might not have displayed at times). drunken tom-foolery has it's place in ski hill development as well; ski hill bars (ie ducky's) need our support and accept many major credit cards, cash, and/or season-long tabs. lets do our part in developing the sport of skiing/drinking and see our soprt go where we want it to be.

ps. the liquor store in enfield isn't coincidently located half way between where you are, and where you need to be, they planned it.

enthusiasm.... big one seriously. more stuff around more places, wentworth is great but we cant all make it there. we dont expect martock to be great, but maybe we should. it would get hopes up, maybe only to be crushed, but maybe also to bring alot of people out to the hill to fix things up.

ummm. just ... yea

i think that the hills need to stop trying to make as many feaures as they can and just concentrate on making the ones that they have better. the park last year at wentowrth was allright for the first bit but it was never maintained, also they should make larger tables, that is a big problem i find, and the set up of the rails is sketchy becuase the rails are half burried and have no gap onto them wahtsoever, this may be good for a small 18 foot flat rail but besisedes that it doesent work. anyways hope to see some improvments this year just as in the past years

They need to maintain the features the put in. I'd rather have less features of better quality then more that all suck!!

**** DAVE ****

exactly what fester is saying or if they set up multiple features on the same deck and in make a hit up the middle and put a trap rail on one side and put a double kink on the otherside and all three features will use the same transition, this would work well and also rails would have an actually landing. also more gap ons, martock finally made one at the end of last year with the 6 foot high red rail and it was a super good rail. When they set up advanced features with it easy to get on, a lot of people who aren't good enough (the young snowboarders usually) hit them and get hurt on the feature, but when they are set up with a more challenging jump to them, then that would keep them off of them until they are ready.

Sometimes when I reflect back on all the beer I drink I feel ashamed. Then I look into the glass and think about the workers in the brewery and all of their hopes and dreams. If I didn't drink this beer, they might be out of work and their dreams would be shattered. Then I say to myself, 'It is better that I drink this beer and let their dreams come true than be selfish and worry about my liver.'

I'm going to represent the less skilled group when i say: similar features of different difficulty, i'd like to work my way up through a park, not psych myself out building up balls to attempt something. I'm just a pussy however.

the way i see it is wentworth (or any one of the maritime hills) need to take their next step in snow management in the terrain parks. when we say features do we meam just rails, boxes and walls...not in my opinion...blow more, maintain the snow more. those are the two real things that we lack here..our climate is fine for park and pipe, we just need the hills to look at setting a better, more discipline approach on building and maintaining features. at any hill that puts substancial focus on their park view poorly made and maintained features as bad as having mud and grass on a gs run. Until the right people become better educated on parks and pipe we will continue to ride parks that are the same all year with minimum maintainance..but remeber..if you can rip our poor parks, you'll be amazed at what you can do in smooth flowy parks that existed virtually everywhere in the world now. the real down side it is hard to progress on features that are intiminating not for their size or purpose, but for their poor setups and consequences..

if i was to take an average table day at any nova scotia hill it takes me nearly an hour or more just to get comfortable with needed speed (cause the trannys are so hit and miss) and my basic tricks. by the time i would hit a few trick i feel comfortable the landing would rut and ruin or my body saw enough impact for a day. in other areas, some that i was lucky enough to travel to last year...you could ski all day on the mountain and then at 3pm go to the park and with soar legs and sun going down the park was safe and FUN to session because the features would be solid and well designed to last all day. then after everyday groomers would fix any small inperfections to maintain the parks appeal, safety and quality.

progression rates have blown to new heights in our sport, and its all do to what is built in your own terrain parks...big safe features = big sweet tricks. small poor features = difficulty for easy tricks.

in all i do expect wentworth and martock to go forward agian this year, and we should all try to recommend out knowledgable suggestions when we can..write an e-mail to your local hill, talk with staff members and groomer guys. our thoughts are valid if we express them in a professional manner. if you all like parks and pipes that are built just to build them dont say anything or worry about..but i feel if there going to build them they should make them as rider friendly as possible - jjjibs
