Sector 9, 45.5"x 9", Gullwing mission trucks, 9 Ball wheels
I'd get it for $90 or maybe less. It's my first longboard but I've gone longboarding a couple times and loved it. I want board that's equally as good for bombing as it is for just cruising and carving.

first of all, i can't take you seriously when you say "y'all"

but yea sector nine is a good begginner board. i had one for a while, but they're for like beginner/intermediate riders. but yea that board will good first board, and good all around.

a friend of mine has the same board and i borrow it occasionally. its a convex shaped deck so it takes a little getting used to, but he says once he rode it for a while he loved it.

eh, maybe not so much bombing. it can handle fair speeds, but if you bomb anything sizable you might have to worry about speed wobbles.

Just tighten up your trucks before going to bomb anything big

i dont give a fuck about the lb i do give a fuck however on your use of "y'all" never again you fuck i dont come to ns to read the word y'all i come on here to read words like
brodudeignantsteezytom wallischfull tiltsafterbangso never fucking use that term again

I never use y'all in everday speech. I didn't think anyone would be so pissed though? It would definitely be mostly cruising. I'm getting one for a trip to florida

ok good.. you see im from santabarbara california and i had to live in alabama for a year so i have some PTSD flashbacks when i read or hear y'all... anyway dope lb dude gullwings are the best lb trucks

lolwut? Gullwings suck, a lot.
I would not buy that board personally because Gullwings suck and the wheels aren't that great either.
I highly recommend Kracked Skulls for beginners but you could look around for a cheap S9 deck or something and then put it on a pair of decent trucks like Randal or Paris. Or try to find a really old S9 deck because they actually used to come with Randal trucks.

The difference is you can put bigger wheels on the Schimitar. So if you are going to be using big wheels (BigZigs, I think maybe ZigZags and Flashbacks maybe?) get that one. If you are getting small wheels anyway then get the M1 because its cheaper. With the M1 selected it won't give you the option of getting the wheels that won't fit.
I would highly recommend BigZigs though they are awesome.

Or this for 10 more dollars. doesn't say anything about model or anything like that. 46" and retails at $300

not a bad board, and if its in decent shape at 90 bucks, its probably not a bad deal. make sure its got some stiffness to it. alot of those S9 boards are mega flexy, which works nicely for pumping but makes pushing tougher and makes um sketchy at speed. it should sag to be level when you stand on it, and it should feel like you could jump on it without it folding straight into the ground. if the flex feels good on it, itll be a good board. if you can drop a bit more cash, there are substantially better options though.

So if someone was to direct me to a nice board for cruising around town and such that would be cool. Keeping in mind i have never skated in my life besides dicking around.

You don't need to have any skill to longboard you will pick it up really quick.

Get a Kreackd Skulls. It shits on my friends S9. We went bombing today and we ended up trading my board back and forth because it was so great. It also is so much easier to push because it's a dropdeck and I love the flex on it, you can jump up and down all day on it.

They are kinda heavy, but that doesn't turn me off one bit, but I could see why it would bother someone.

i have a sector 9 with the same trucks, and its a really nice board. mine is the ghost tree, i like it a lot, and i would buy from them again if i had the money. the ghost tree is 42 tip - tail and im thinking about tightening the trucks a little and putting angled risers on it for a little more curve, so that it will still turn with tighter trucks

I'd go for something like the original post for a cruising board. a downhill dropdeck like Billek's might be a bit too much. the small cruising type also have tails for cornering, but the dropdeck is just made for going downhill at speed.

yo guys, i'm looking into buying a longboard, but im relatively new to this stuff and i dont really know much about the brands and all that shit. i've gone longboarding a few times and i loved it. im looking for a board that would be good for cruising around town, as well as going down hills and shit. can you guys suggest some boards for me?

^^loaded dervishand to op, i'd get it. i know a few kids who have pretty similar ones and they seem work pretty well. like others have said, it won't handle hill-bombing as well as other boards might, but it's a really solid beginner setup and you won't find a better value for that price.

Kracked Skulls dude it really is the best board you can get for the money. The deck is really cheap so it comes with excellent trucks and spending $40 on good wheels isn't that big of a deal because you can still get the whole setup for $160 or under.
Only problem is the mandatory 2 days shipping is kind of expensive but at least you get your board fast haha.
Super bouncy fun decks, the flex isn't exactly what I'd call "refined", its not like an Original deck or something where they spent tons of money and time making sure that the board flexes only right under your feet and the board flexes every so slightly more on your back foot so it feels like you are attached to the thing, but it is a hell of a lot cheaper than an Original deck. For the money, I've never ever ridden a better board.
Also if you were looking for like a ridiculously flexy deck or more of a stiffer one, you can hit up Will on his email and he'll work with you, he'll use a different number of plys or whatever to try to get it where you want.

I have a sector 9 and its similar but yeah. I hated my gullwing trucks so I switched them, along with the bearings. Good price for a board tho

As I pointed out earlier in this thread the only difference is what wheels you can get on them (and a small extra piece of wood for stiffening). So if you are getting wheels that won't fit on the M1, get the Scimitar. If you are getting wheels that will fit on the M1 get that because its cheaper.

So my circumstances have changed. Turns out I only need one ticket because we are driving back, and I'm borrowing one for florida instead of buying one. I'm going to buy one when I get back, or maybe when I get down there but this gives me up to about 250 to spend on one though i'd rather only go up to 150. Any suggestions?

Firstly, I was given that same exact board as a gift from a friend of mine who owns a board shop. Although it's a good board, you can get a wayyyyy better used board for that price (and REALLY good boards for 150///250)

go on www.silverfishlongboarding.com make an account and check out the classified ads, its basically B/S/T. I picked up a landyachtz drop carve with bear 852's and zig zags for only 125. There are some unreal deals. What you have to do though is get an all around board. do your research and make sure not to get a DH board or something like that as your first board. ive been really into longboarding for the past couple of months, id say before you purchase anything post in this thread.

I make custom longboards that fit your description in price and what you want in a board.

And as to sector 9 please don't buy these are some of the worst most overplayed boards ever. They are the stiffest most un-cruisible boards ever. It is like they just cut a strip out of a tree mounted up some trucks and put a sticker on it. And most of all what they are paired up with, I mean gullwings are not good also. They have no turning with the bushings they have in them. Terrible quality, I just hate sector 9 all together. Go to Landyachts, Loaded, Me (GET LongBoards), Rayne, anything please just not sector 9!

/rant

although id agree that sector 9 is the burton of longboarding, they dont make terrible boards for their price. the cosmic 2 is a very springy board (but also quasi-flimsy), and the gullwing mission one stock bushings have some of the softest bushings ive ever ridden (feels similar to original trucks to me). that all being said, he's right, pick up a different board .

wow such ignorance. if you actually have any experience with sector 9 boards you would know that they are very solid beginner/intermediate boards. You lost all your credibility when you started talking about their bushings because that is obviously do to the gullwing trucks stock bushings which can be upgraded for about $5.

Please stop blindly promoting your boards if you obviously don't know anything about sector 9's.

However Landyachts, Loaded(Expensive), Rayne, or some other little company are all good.

And to reply to the AP that is a pretty good deal for that board. I got a similar board to that for $150 for my first as well. It will do most of what you ask of it but be aware that no board is PERFECT for all disciplines

how are kracked skulls for bombing? I mostly want to cruise around st. paul and go on parking ramps but i occasionally want to bomb huge ass hills without getting speed wobbles.

I've taken mine over 30mph, carving turns and whatnot, and it was solid as a rock. Once you start getting over 35mph you would be in a little bit of trouble because of how flexible the deck is, but those trucks will hold at really high speeds. If you get speed wobbles it'll probably be from the adrenaline making your legs shake.
If you have $250 to spend though you could almost afford a Dervish and those things are supposed to be amazing. They might be $300 though, they are expensive.
^And to the other guy, length is all personal choice. I ride a 46" but I'm 6'3, its up to you. As a rule of thumb though with KS boards the shorter ones are slightly stiffer and the longer ones flex more.

what do y'all think about THIS longboard??

8=====================================================================>

How is it ignorance when it has been said many times how bad they are? I am not blindly supporting my company actually I am letting him know to stay away from sector 9. If you have a sector 9 stand on it, bounce a little. Then get a real board and stand on that. Completly different, no flex compared to flex and quality. Do you want to know why they are bad deck: well Even the video on sector 9's site shows when they press there boards the press about 10 at a time in a cold hydrolic press. Compared to like never summer, they have individual presses for each board so the boards keep there concave and camber for longer. I bet there isn't a hand laid on sector 9's boards when they are being made till the trucks are attached. While at never summer they have indivudual molds, hand lay the carbon fiber and fiberglass stringers, and shape them.

And how many people that are starting longboarders know what bushings are, I know a kid that has longboarded for 2 years and has no idea what they are. As if you buy from paris, they come with venom bushings, or there model that have the same make-up as venom bushings.

So please tell me how I am ignorant?

Hey bro dude, your so ignant your steezy as tom wallisch i wonder if you afterbang while wearing yall full tilts you ignant bro dude king. Fucckkkk broo yeahh bro dude

had the same one, dont get it. its too long to carve hard, unless youre bookin it fast as shit. i could barely make corners on a sidewalk. i got mine for 50, sold it for 60, 90 is too high for a pos like that imo.

no, get the M1 with stock bearings and go out and buy bones reds, theyre 15 bucks and the best cheap bearing on the market

bearings: get Abec 11 Biltins. best bearing you can buy. they last forever, have washers and spacers built in, are cake to clean, and stay fast (assuming you clean and oil them every once in a while

if you keep any bearing clean, and oiled regularly, along with washers, they will last forever. do you self a favor, dont spend 50 on bearings, and get yourself some bones reds, and take care of em.
