What Do We Do For The Children?

Spokane, Wa. Snowday, schools out. Got to Manito Park at 8:00 AM after a proper handful of almonds, setting up a booter and a rail with a buddy. 9:00 AM six highschoolers show up. they bring another rail. call their friends. this pic was taken at 11 but by noon i swear there were over 40 sweaty kids in a massive insecurity contest, (obvs myself included) seeing who could slam hardest.

it was as cringe as it was glorious. couple of the kids stood out. one was a senior in hs. asked him what his ns was, and he says "What?", i said "Newschoolers, you dig? and he says "oh, like the instagram account? Yeah I follow them."

What do we do? Do we just let their insta butter iceberg drift into the drink? Do we show them the way? Do we stay secret and safe? the Kid had surface skis but a TGR beanie, major broke brain disjoint. Theres much to be said of letting the culture evolve as well as preserving the past, but this seems like devolution. what do we do?
 
While I think it is a shame that they don't know that NS is a website with a ton of good ski content, and not just an insta repost page, the fact that they're out there riding and having fun is the important thing. I think the kids will be alright

i was talking to a park rat the other day and i swear he said those exact words "oh, like the instagram account? Yeah I follow them." and the dude has the audacity to be condescending to me for not having twin tips ?
 
Mabye NS should do more posts advertising the forums cuz its way better on here. They should shoutout the forums more on the instagram to get more traction.

New members will make some interesting new threads for a bit but eventually they will learn the ways

In the past they have highlighted the better discussions and stories on their IG stories. They have also done posts of member clips and shout out the site through that.

They should post about the forums more often. It’s almost like newschoolers is an insta page that also has a forum.

Never felt like adding anything till this year, really only used it for following athletes and films from back in Poorboyz and Stepts prime. Always seen NS as the standard for skiing and have really only wanted to be more active since growing in frustration with where TGR and other things have been headed. much love bb

A few weeks ago the kids at the park were roasting me for admitting I dont watch SteepSteep. So yeah these kids defenitly doomed lol.

It's hard to get into the forums when new members get so much hate lol. I remember discovering NS when I was like 14 through Google searches and it was hostile as fuck so I stayed away for a few more years.

5000 posts later I should've stayed away longer
 
Yes I agree. Sometimes we clown on new members really hard. Gotta remember there are plenty of kids without accounts watching from the sidelines too

I'm afraid to say that I only knew about newschoolers and introduced it to my 2003 friends cause my older brother had an account years ago. I pray this community doesn't fade sooner than expected; its an authentic place.
 
Just recently started to use ns more and I’m really glad I do now. I feel like I’d we just let them know it’s out there they’ll come around eventually. Nothing wrong with at least spreading the word
