What do pros edit with?

Guessing final cut pro or adobe premier. It doesn't really matter what the program it is, but who the editor is.

dude its not how good the program is, it is how creative you are and how good u know how to use the program.

no program will make u instantly good at editing

but most professional production companies use final cut pro or adobe studio

 
I have been using iMovie, but want to move up to Final Cut Express, but am a little hesitant to get into it. It seems more complicated, or else its just tougher after a few beers.

What do you thnk?

adobe has got nothin. the small companies do final cut pro cuz its cheap and the big ones use avid. but fcp has gotten so good that its almost the same as avid.
 
In sports and alot of more indy film types of industries most likely FCP Studio. For hollywood AVID is the standard from what i've heard.
 
I take a video production class in school and we use Final Cut Express to edit everything. If you know how to edit, it's super easy. But if you don't it will definitely take some time to get used to
 
for the realy uber-filmmers using 16mm film, they need an entire studio with splicers etc, and a high res scanner, huge-as computer etc.. =a few years of college tuition.

for digital:

adobe premire

final cut pro

lots of plugins that take care of color correcting/effects

they also use creativity, thousands of dollars and spend days editing and rendering.

final cut pro mostly. you need to be pretty good to use it though because its really complicated and such.
 
so heres the thing i use Final Cut Pro 6 HD and integrate Motion 3, soundtrack pro, Shake, and DVD Studio Pro all the time.
And in recent news Apple is thinking about selling FCS and that could mean big changes which would suck.
 
Hollywood companies have their own programs. Each production company and such have someone make up their own editing program that suites them the best.
 
I use a mix between Flash and Imovie/ imovie HD. I know its not perfect but Ilike to be able to draw titles and stuff so flash gets that done. Plus I know it very well
 
my friend had this 8mm cam that had an edit function. the video he made was truely art.
 
lolz not at all. People who have only used windows movie maker and/or iMovie would look at FCP and say "what do i do?".
 
haha i went from pinnacle to imovie then to fcp. i looked at that shit and taught myself a lot but went and took certification classes anyways.
Motion is what confuses everyone i know. tons of hours spent teaching myself that and its money andd easy.

Every time i open up After Effects to see whats up with it, i instantly just quit because i have absolutely no idea what to do haha.
 
It does take alot of patience to get good with it but once you do its really good. Good thing My school has a video course which shows you how to use it or else i would be screwed
 
adobe premier is semi-legit (alot of options on there)...final cut is my guess in what the pros use...a basic film editing software is MovieMaker though (pretty easy to use)
 
This is pretty much right on. I know Adobe Premier Pro like the back of my hand... and although it's a damn good program, it really doesn't mean anything to know it... moving to Final Cut Pro in a few monthes...

i have vegas 5.0 and you can do a ton of stuff with it, ive been using it for a few years and i only know how to use like 1/2 of it theres so much
 
AVID is the industry standard with the exception of the indie film industry which is moving more and more toward FCP. Many animation studios have their own proprietary animation software, but AVID is too well developed and powerful for editing 4K and even 8K online film scans to be reinvented by every Hollywood company. With that said, AVID is rather difficult to learn and use and not user friendly at all.
