What country has the best skiers? (In general not pros)

This is probably a repost but the title says it all. Personally I've seen some crazy stuff come out of Finland recently so that's my vote.
 
The US is up here if not the top. There have been huge evens and sick parks for a long time here. Lots of freestyle programs. The number of good parks is insane. So many options.

If this were about park skiing I would say the US for sure. But the title does just say "skiers" so I would have to go with somewhere in Europe.

This is newschoolers so I would assume we're not talking racers, cross country, etc.
 
In general probably Austria because skiing is more or less the biggest sport in Austria. While they're not known for the best park skiers the racers and big mountain skiers that come out of Austria are absolutely insane.

Dude, just because the population is massive and you have a larger amount of good park skiers doesnt mean theyre better., I mean, cmon, Sweden has a population of roughly 9million, the US about 319million, thats 310million more people. Sure like more than half of them rarely ski, but still, put it in perspective please...

Europe produces some cracker skis. French skiers are usually the most confident in big mountains. Sweden is crazy and Canada, I don't know what they put in the water over in Quebec but it's bloody working.

This , but considering europe skiers are maybe better all around but for park the us for sure
 
did somebody mention Switzerland yet? We got everything, from big mountain dudes to park rats like Ambühl and Mahler. Urbans not that developed yet tho. workin on it
 
competing a lot it seems to be much more difficult to get into the big comps as an american, there are so many insane US kids these days. Europe puts out a lot of talent too but deff more spread out
 
I've never skied in North America but it seems like there are loads of kids that try ski park before they even learn to ski. It's not really like that in Europe. Don't get me wrong there's obviously a few, just not as many
 
definitely not australia for park skiing, maybe 1 in every 300 people on my home mountain can throw a flip, but we have some pretty crazy tree skiers and all mountain but not really anything special
 
Scandinavia in general, not sure which country is best but I think Finland for park riders, have you ever seen an edit from Ruka?

The vast majority of the population doesn't ski at all. It's a big country. There are a lot of mountains but also a ton of places nowhere near ski areas. Hell there are a ton of people in the US who have never even seen snow and the majority of people don't have access to ski hills.

ALso numbers or not there are a lot of people coming out of the states that are better than people from anywhere else.

Also nuff people say ya know they can't believe, jamaica we have a bobsled team.

The title says what country has the best skiers, not the best skiers per capita. Due to our massive size, which is a big plus for the lady countries, we have a huge range of environments and of those we have a diverse range of mountains and skiing from small midwest molehills that breed fucked up good park skiers to massive, gnarly big mountain stuff. We're also competitive as fuck which is why we're better than everyone else ever, foreverever. Go US we're awesome, cue fireworks and explosions and monster trucks and big titties and stuff!
 
Austria, Switzerland, Norway, or France.

Italy, USA, Sweden, and Canada are up there..

-note I'm also talking about real skiing on real snow on real cliffs on real mountains - not park and urban.

I think the Europeans probably have better fundamental basics down and know how to actually carve and be on edge. The French, Swiss, and Austrians have really amazing big mountain skiers. But overall, I think it goes to Canada, not the US. There's a higher percentage of the population that skis in Canada versus the US. OP is not asking about pro skiers, just the average recreational skier.

Per-Capita I'd say the USA has the worst skiers of any country that's really into skiing haha. Either that or Japan/Korea. What I hear is that half the time the folks on vacation are even more n00by than the Texas dingbats that go to Vail and Park City for 5 days every year.

Def not recreational. I ski most of my seasons in Austria, France and Italy and have gone skiing in the USA and to say you got the best recreational skiers is just well...ignorant

Granted, that does entirely depend on where you go in the USA.

You go to Squaw Valley, or Jackson Hole or Crested Butte or something and seemingly everyone on the mountain makes you feel like a crap skier no matter where you're from.
 
Somewhere where it's part of the culture. In other words, not the USA, because let's face it, the vast majority of the country isn't in a position to access skiing. Canada's probably out too, because only Western Canada has the high quality stuff, and while Quebec has its presence, a large portion of the country (central / maritimes) is basically out of the picture.

I'd think somewhere like Austria.

Not sure where you skied in the US but as DingoSean said go to the proper places like he mentioned , Alta/Snowbird or the Tahoe area. My observation was that there were far more good recreational skiers than at any Euro resort I have been to - including the biggest ones.

Oh and I'm Euro btw so no bias here.
 
Norway.

You could easily include Finland and Sweden and argue for Scandinavia as a whole too, for a huge chunk of history it was basically one country anyway.

At this point its like its embedded in their DNA or something. Recreational skiing is a relatively new concept (in the last 200yrs or so), but for transportation, hunting, and warfare, Scandos have been skiing for literally thousands of years.

I guess that's true. Only been to Utah and the best I've seen was at Alta.
