What could have happened to skiing

I was just thinking, things could have gone a lot different. If salmon or line was never a brand the twintip may have never gotten big. If people like Shane Mcconkey decided not to ski, it might not have pushed to where it has been. If Jason Leventhal decided to go into another business who even knows what would have happened. I probably wouldn't have even made this thread if it wasnt for him. So ya I pretty much just realized this and thats about it.

I don't know man, I mean freeskiing popped up at a time when a lot of other things where changing in a similar way as well. Even if different individuals where involved, I think things would have been pretty similar.

I guess, it could be a more boring life if there is no skiing. Lol.. Anyway, I guess if skiing doesn't exist, then for sure there will always be other options of happiness! Don't you get it? People are always smarter than you think. They can always find a way to make life more interesting! :) But just then, if there's no skiing then there will be no thread like this. :D

with all due respect to the important people in our sport, ""newschool skiing"" was an inevitability. it's just the latest iteration of hot dogging/XXXtreme/whatever. skiers have hit jumps and cliffs for decades, and rails/switch tricks are in most other sports it makes sense in so...

Yeah, we could have had year round nuclear winter pow. Bummer.

And carnivorous snowmen.

If we didn't get snow on this planet, skiing wouldn't even exist. Point is - everything today is a product of past events. Playing the what if game in the past tense is a silly, pointless exercise. It's good to acknowledge events from the past to understand why things are as they are today, just don't think to hard about what the world would be like if things went differently. For good or bad, things happened, work with what you are given and do your best.
