Hello everyone,

For the last 2 years I have been posting pictures and sequences on NS, I never really was interested with what people thought of my pictures, I mostly just took pictures at events when the park was closed to the public and had nothing else to do except take some pics and I ended up liking it ;)

But now I'm wondering, what are your thoughts about my sequences in general and what could I do better/change ?

Also what trick would you like to see be shopped into a sequence and also what is you favorite sequence that I have made (if you have one) ?

I would love to hear what you have to say

Cheers

Joris

I think you've really been killing it with all of them and keep it up! I really liked nicky's cork 5 at nine knights just cause his roll in looked so sick. Definitely turn more of them into gif's!

I like some of them, definitely some cool photos, I think some of the Nine Knights photos were my favorite.

I think you've let sequencing an image replace good composition and exposure in some of your photos. In other words, a sequence doesn't make a good photo on its own, it still needs to be shot well.

The last freestyle.ch images are a prime example of that IMO.

this one is underexposed by about a stop, and the angle just flat out doesn't work, poor fg, busy bg, etc.

The tendency to underexpose is something caused in part by the 7d i think. I had a similar issue when I shot on my t2i. The crop sensor, viewfinder and lcd don't give you a great picture of what you're actually shooting. Definitely look to histograms and post processing to help that out.

I get that you like sequences, and that it's kind of your "thing" but don't let that limit you. Keep experimenting, pushing and redefining your personal style. Looking to others and taking in all the information and critiques you can. I've personally learned a lot from going on the fred miranda forums and looking at a lot of other photographers work. While FM is a much more "traditional" sports based community, the same "rules" and lessons can be used and applied to whatever you shoot.

Thanks man, appreciate the feedback. Actually most of my picture I take are overexposed then after Photoshoping I go Lightroom I usually just mess around with the sliders until I find something that I find pleasing ! And that is why my sequence is underexposed a bit ;)

Thanks for the tips, I'll go take a look at the Fred Miranda website and I'll try and keep all that in mind next time I go out shooting :)

You take damn good sequences! They're always pleasing.

I think I'd agree with Matt and say that there are sometimes sequences that aren't worthy/don't match the caliber of others. Maybe it's personal opinion but I'm not that interested by freestyle.ch sequences because the setup is so bland to me. I really enjoy the shots in real mountains.

I think my favorite sequence is this one. I really enjoy the foreground and the color.

And I LOVE this one for the trick, composition, and location, but I feel like it's not my favorite because of editing choices. I'm not in love with the color, it feels a little too blue to me, I think it has a massive black and white potential because it's so muted anyway. BUT there's one thing about this sequence that I find to be a common error in a lot of yours: You miss the shadows a lot. I think frame 4, 5, 6 all seem to not match the shadows that there are on the preceding 3, so it makes him look out of place/a little too superimposed.
