What are your thoughts on Candides new movie "Few Words"

by far the best ski movie ever made in my opinion. I like it more then travis rices films to. It was really the first movie of its kind. Only focusing on one person and showing how he was and still is the best. start to present.

Went to the slc premiere last thursday. It was incredibly inspiring. I usually don't like ski films that are done in documentary style but this was the exception. Candide is one of a kind.

It was very good. A lot of people complained because there was more of a documentary aspect than they expected but i enjoyed it. They showed countless clips of Candides old skiing as the told the story of his career, and frankly most old his old footage stands up against anything today. And as for the new footy it was fucking mind blowing.

This. Candide showed a whole side that nobody knew he had (even though they expected it). The shots were mindblowing and Candide is a BOSS

This was me during the entire movie:

Incredible film. It's the closest thing I've seen to a Brain Farm-esque skiing production in terms of the level of riding, filming and editing. However, It is more focused on one rider in particular (Candide) than Art of Flight or TITA. Personally, I was a big fan of how it blended together the story of Candide from a beginner to where he is now and how he changed skiing along with his recent exploits and next level riding ability. All of the new footage is banger and includes lines and tricks that you need to see to believe. Plus, the throwback shots and interviews provide info and perspective to the folks that don't really know Candide's history or that weren't around to witness things like Candide Invitational, Superpark hip, 810 to rail, etc. Definitely a great flick that everyone who takes an interest in freeskiing should see and one that I will most definitely be purchasing.

Saw it in Paris. Unbelievable, a must own for any freeskier. Candide is one of the best freeskiers now and possibly ever in this lifetime.

Saw it in Paris.. Well, I was quite blown from the first ski shots. Maybe a bit too many interviews which could have been replaced by skiing, because it's true we do not feel there's 2 years of footage...

i saw it and i think its sick because it showcases Candides career from pastto present. Some footage most skiers have seen from older movies, but the new footy that is recent is soo sick. the man can ski****SPOILER ALERT his swich dub 9 natrual take off and trip back is rediculous!

I've only seen the trailer, but yeah, he doesn't give a fuck about it either, and the (remote) control helicopter shots are awesome. But is he boss on piste?... lol. It's all about the charge.

In all honesty I enjoyed it, like other people I too wish there were more new shots but the ones they had are still pretty fucking awesome (especially the opening shots) even if you can see the majority of them in the trailer. Too much slow mo for my taste and I feel that it took away from some of the shots, he goes hard, you don't need to slow every shot down it's going to look badass either way.

Candide will always be a boss because he is one of the pioneers. Same with Jon Olsson, T-Hall, Fujas and so on. Even though younger skiers are doing harder and better tricks nowadays, these guys will still always be amongst the best newschool skiers of all time.

Go watch some of Candide's old contest pipe runs where he went several feet higher than anyone else.

I have never been more stoked then i was during the intro segment, and i didnt lose it thru out the whole movie. So sick, Candide is still killing it.

"Switch dub 9 natural take off".. Can someone explain for those of us who live in the Southern Hemisphere and are no where near a premiere?

Amazing how much of Candide's work (tricks) has stood up against the test of time.

Thinking back to:

Clearing the hip at Superpark

D Spinning Chads Gap

Winning World Tour

Candide Invitationals

Goiiiing huge in X Games Pipe

Nasty 95 score at X Games Slopestyle.

Then you add on all his new footage and BAM.

Killer movie.

he also has a huge stepup...with a mogul field for an inrun. basically candide is the man, and does what he wants, when he wants.

That was fucking insane. Candide is the fucking man, that's for sure. He's just the best freeskier of all time, and he's not done pushing the sport forward. Just seeing him ski, you can tell the guy is having so much fun, hes style is so unique. I know a lot of people are waiting on an itunes release, I couldn't wait, I bought the bluray and I would do it again.

alright you fucking euros, time to get this movie available in the best country in the world so we can watch the world's best skier destroy shit. come on!

fucking insane. if you couldnt tell the footage because of quality apart, you would probably think most of it was filmed this year.
all around, insane movie.
new footage is fucking sick, old footage is fucking sick. and all the old shit is in good quality. (for the most part)
I remember candide used to have his own filmer who would film him them sell shots to production companies, or give footy away but the quality was always decreased.
his 3 hits in the movie on "big bertha" when it was over 3 jumps running the other way in 06? are fucked.

I loved it. I thought it was great showing how he evolved and how he evolved skiing. Especially at such a yyoung age. Chads gap seggy was sick. His comeback was epic. Iv watched it twice in less than 48 hours

Wow. Just Wow. This is a MUST WATCH movie, totally lives up to the hype.

1) About 1/3rd is new material, lots of massive lines in B.C. at high speed, pillow domination and a crazy segment from his home mountain as a natural terrain park.

2) Music is amazing and fits very well with each segment

3) Interviews and history on Candide highlight why he is one of the best (if not best) freestyle skier of all time (X-Games gold in 3 disciplines, first to clear Chad's Gap, first D-Spin 7 over Chad's, 810 to rail, Candide Invitationals/injury, comeback to win the fucking Freeride World Tour in his FIRST SEASON). The best part is he barely speaks, it's others praising his career not him bragging.

4) Filming/cinematography/editing is really spot on, the hour flies back, watched it twice already.

It's just mind boggling how fast he skis big lines and how big he goes on jumps. GET THE BLU-RAY IT'S WORTH IT.

ok so i saw it in a ski shop for $42 today, so as much as i want to see it, that wasnt going to happen...anyone know what the deal is on an itunes release?

This makes no sense at all. Who cares how he skis "On Piste" do you want to see a film about someone skiing groomers or what?

So admittedly I fucking torrented this movie, feel like a scumbag, but will without a doubt buy it when iTunes releases it. Like I buy every other movie that comes out.

Synopsis:

In "Few Words" Candide Thovex goes out and shows you why he is the best skier in the world. Refreshing in this day and age of skiers trying to market themselves with brash attitudes and caricatures of what real people are like.

From the innovation in the early days of freestyle. To the power and energy that he has skiing fucking huge lines. It's pretty clear that whatever aspect he decides to concentrate on, he will completely crush.

My girlfriend watches a lot of ski movies with me, and even though she usually doesn't know what she is looking at, she could tell that Candide is pretty next level.

Now that Few Words is done, and out. It would be cool to see him do some filming with a company like TGR or MSP.

thanks everyone for the support! it was an unbelievable experience to work with cand and also to end up being interviewed for the movie! (thanks matt!) to answer some topics; there was no remote helicam used at all, only real helis; candide told me that he is planning something big with more of the footy we got throughout the last two years, because he was not super stoked to tell his own story (think a longer version of the candidekameras) and lastly, fuck all of those that download without buying it! we worked our ass off and cand spent tons of his own money to bring this to you, so do whats right! support not only him, but all the industry... i hope every skier gets a chance to see this movie, even if not a candide fan, to see where most of our sport's style has come from!

cheers for the support! time to crush more powder now... \m/

I don't really like documentary films and this wasn't an exception. I would have totally preferred a 30 minute Candide Kamera 3 instead of the 60 minutes of mixed new/old/talking/nature footage but I guess that wouldn't constitute a "film" like they were trying to make. I rewatch Candide Kamera 1 and 2 regularly, but not sure if I will go back to Few Words year after year because of all the other stuff that's in there.

Still, the new footage is totally sweet. Especially the first segment; so chargy yet so smooth.
